Capers to the Packers

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Reported by PFT, Capers will be hired as the Packers DC.

I didn't realistically see him as an option here, but I know some folks thought it would be a decent idea. Indeed it might have been, but it just didn't seem likely to happen.

Coughlin was reported to want him in New York. No go.

Another one off the general DC "Wish List". Dave McGinnis is likely taking the Titans DC spot. Herm Edwards and Sean McDermott are still possibilities.

Well there is also some obscure people we can pick up from the Ravens and Steelers, they have had the two best defenses this year and you can about bet your ass some of they're better assistants are going to get a shot and I'm sure a few of you remember our last assistant form the Ravens.

Capers in Carolina = NO

BIG NO

No love lost, no sleep lost

Unless you're one of the Tim Lewis critics who was hoping they'd take him off our hands.

This hire increases the likelihood that if Trgovac is eventually fired, Lewis replaces him rather than one of the outside choices.

Dear god I hope not, if they do that they might as well of not fired Trgovac, we all have seen what the Giants defense was able to do with Lewis gone.

I dont buy into that.

There is merit to the thought because of Lewis history, however I think Fox would look to find someone with a fresh outside perspective and no history with the players.

I think evena new scheme with someone the player KNOW wont be as effective as a new coach that the players can buy into because of the realm of unknown...

Local media has said more than once that Lewis would be a candidate to replace Trgovac if he were let go. Add in that Cincinnati wanted to interview Lewis for their DC spot last season. The Panthers denied them permission.

On the flipside, this season, the Panthers are allowing anyone, Lewis included, to interview for other opportunities if they wish.

Hard to predict what happens next.

Everyone thought McCoy would replace Henning too.

Valid point.

Yasinskas was pimping him pretty heavily in local media, practically had him hired (going mostly off info from McCoy's agent). Might have embarrassed Yasinskas a little when Davidson got the job instead.

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
