julius peppers was living the NFL dream: playing in front of his home crowd, with a team that wanted him for his entire career, a fanbase that adored him, half the stadium wearing his jerseys, his family in close proximity...

then he makes up some excuse about privacy (why the hell would you move to CHICAGO if you want privacy? bigger, more rabid fanbase and overscrutinizing media... dumbshit) and peaces the f**k out. moreover he does it with absolutely no class, bad-mouthing the panthers organization every chance he gets. so dont talk to me about julius pepper... the man who had everything everyone dreams of and threw it away. fug that guy.

also i heard he's gay, so there's that

Again, that was over a full year before he signed elsewhere... The next season, the most recent one he played for us, HE SAID HE WAS WILLING TO RE-SIGN WITH US BUT WE DIDN'T EVEN CALL/TEXT HIM. Frame it however you want, this franchise was planning to self-destruct long before opening kick-off and cut all expenses anyway possible.

He said, he would not resign with the Panthers and he kind of wanted to play in a 3-4 and did not want us to franchise him. Watch the probowl before we franchised him. His agent didn't respond to numerous calls, according to the observer, during his last season as a Panther.

julius pepper: the man who had everything and threw it away. and probably likes dicks.

I normally agree with you and enjoy your posts philly, but as I said, I've changed my stance on this issue the more time that has passed and the more I see the true motives of this franchise.

It's simple to me, you have more privacy in a bigger city because there's more people and everyone is moving, handling their business... Peppers might be popular and people might approach him, but not in the way they do here. Chicago has CELEBRITIES. They've seen tons of them, it doesn't really phase them. Here, people hear a "celebrity" lives close by and they gawk, they investigate, they ogle, etc. Simply put, the majority of people around here don't know how to act around "celebrities."

I'm willing to bet people in Chicago will be hard pressed to find out who Pep's realtor, doctor, entourage is, unless they already are higher up on the social ladder. But the fans treat their players like gold there.

I agree on he had everything football wise though - most boys dream of playing for their hometown/state team, being cheered on by those they grew up in front of, everyone looks up to you, etc. But, with this fanbase and his mindset, I just think he had a different dream, even before he was drafted here. I think he's a introverted guy and wanted to go other places...

He has certainly said more off the field and acted out more on the field than he ever did here, which I can't say I cared for, but I understand it. But, I will say, he hasn't trashed the organization every chance he's gotten. And the few times he's said something that may have seemed insulting was probably because he had a right to - if we never contacted him about offering him a new deal this off-season.

He said he didn't want to be here and wanted to play in a 3-4 before we franchised him IIRC... That was the off-season before last. This off-season he said he was willing to sign long-term here and we didn't contact him at all before FA opened, so he left, according to him. The FO actions support that story IMO.

God bless you! He is a joke. After him sitting there wearing a Panther helmet at the pro bowl and saying he did not want to play for us, I have no respect for him. But you are right, he would have been a North Carolina legend if he never left.

He had almost as much money on the table as he signed for with Chicago, so why didn't he stay to be close to his loving fans like you and his family?

Screw Pep. We offer him a contract twice & he turn it down. It clear he never want to stay & him acting like the victim in the newspaper before today game is laughable, 'cause we were the victim. He held us hostage with making us wait before '09 season started & why we gave one of our 2010 draft pick to get Everette Brown. He only wanted the money, nothing more. To those who defend him, go root for another team if you like what he did to the fans & diss our team 'cause they at least support their team than a sellout liar in Pep.

You can't be mad at someone wanting to try something new. I still respect the guy. I respect him for making a decision for HIMSELF. It's like the way I feel right now. I am currently at a work place I don't enjoy working at and I am looking for something better in my field. Just because I leave and get a new job, am I disrespectful? Peppers is a freak of nature and I sure do miss the fellow but he had to do whats best for him. We suck this year but guess what. I will still be in front of the TV with my beer and Jarrett jersey(please don't comment) lol and cheer. Win or lose I am a panther fan but I am getting disgusted with front office and owner. The front office didn't put this franchise in a decent position. If its all about money, let's see what JR does when he can't sell any seats. With me, I am still a fan but the decisions they have made leaves me confused.

Peppers made one great play yesterday, but other than that, he was shut down.

Fwiw, I don't think we miss him that much. Our defense is ok without him, its the offense that is struggling.

Agree. The offense need a new coordinator. We have the talent, but lack the play to make it successful.

I don't know if the fanbase knew what happened in regards to the Peppers situation...or are capable of understanding. He said he was open to contract negotiations last year...that fell on deaf ears. He never received as much as a phone call from the FO.

Can you really blame the guy for leaving? The fans who are pissed at Peppers need to focus on the bigger picture...that we now have the shittiest owner in the league and this is his "master plan".
