Dog bites and kids

I got biten by a dog atleast 12 times when i was a kid. Lesson to be learned = you dont fug with dogs when they 1). Eating and 2). Sleeping

Also, it is bad idea to have a kid after you got a dog. The dogs are territorial creatures and they see kids as their intruders.

How does your wife feel about it?

She was in tears for hours.

She would be devastated to lose this dog.

I warned her before we had kids if they ever bit they'd be gone instantly, I still feel the same way.

Her emotional connection to the dog makes this more difficult to figure out.

I don't think the dog meant serious harm, but it doesn't take much to leave a scar on a kid. Nipping will do it. Apparently the dog sees the kid as a peer and feels its ok to try to dominate him. If it were me I would find the dog another home and sleep better, despite how my wife felt with her emotional attachments.

This happened to my daughter about a year ago. The dog we had for about 9 years bit her right in the face. She walked up behind the dog and I guess scared her and the dog bit her in the cheek pretty hard.

We rushed her to the hospital and animal control came to the house and got the dog. My daughter was in the hospital for about a week with a serious infection from the bites, even spent Christmas eve and day in the hospital.

We had the option of picking up the dog or having her put down. We had her put down. I know the attachment people have to their dogs but kids are more important in any circumstance.

Nope. Our dog never as much as barked at our kids for 7 years despite the hell they put her through. We had another dog that did show aggression towards them so I took her back to the breeder for a new home without kids.

To be clear, the dog didn't bite, just an inadvertent scratch while trying to get away from my boy.

My big thing was does the dog get another chance if he does bite. I still think no

yeah, we're not getting rid of him. yet.

If he bites that's it though. I will say he kept away from my boy the rest of the day.

its never happened to me so I dunno, I just know that when a dog is sleeping it can get startled pretty easy.

Same thing happened to me with a neighbor's dog when I was younger. Bit me right in my face and tore up my lip. Didn't have to get stitches, but had to go to the Dr. and have them look at my profusely bleeding face.

My neighbor was nice enough to put the dog down, it had a lot of behavioral problems and they had two young children at the time. Guess it depends on how you feel about the dogs around your kids and other people's kids.

    • Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the contract. IMO, he's a borderline top 10 type of CB when healthy and he's missed damn near half of the games in his career. I hope it proves to be the correct decision but damn... it's a really tough sell to convince me that making him the NFL's highest paid DB is a wise move.
    • The draft isn't a vending machine where you insert a pick, press A3, and out pops a franchise cornerstone. It’s more like a gacha game - you turn in a premium (or non-premium) ticket, hear the fun little jingle, and wait to see what you pulled... without knowing how strong it'll actually end up. League-wide, the average draft hits on about 30 - 40% of its picks when teams have a standard seven selections. So if you walk away with 3 - 4 real contributors... that's considered a solid class. Hitting on 4 out of 11 is right in that range. To be clear: this isn't some veiled endorsement of Tepper, Fitterer, or Rhule. It’s simply an honest accounting of which players from that class are still with the Panthers and heading into their fourth year - and thus outlasting the average NFL career. Just trying to lean more toward more critiquing with clarity rather than lighting it all on fire for the spectacle of the flames.
    • Please do not forget that everything the NFL does is for the increase in revenue. If a big market team draws more money [ticket sales, betting revenue, TV ratings & etc.] when they play at home versus on the road in the playoffs, you can safely be sure the NFL knows & will act accordingly. Just like the draft lottery proposal, if the NFL can capture TV ratings for it, they will.
