Devin Thomas claimed by Panthers.

Just to add:

I love the move. I think this helps create the opportunity for our receiving corps to actually get better. Maybe bench LaFell a couple of games, and let him learn. Maybe deactivate Armanti once more, to let him take a little more time to adjust to the speed of the NFL.

All I know is that we have a TON of speed on offense now. If we had someone to throw the ball vertically, especially on those eight and nine man fronts, we could be scoring touchdowns left and right.

I heard Garcia was seeking employment, could a short term contract be a solution to our quarterback situation?

If you're referring to Jeff Garcia, he isn't eligible to break out of his Omaha Nighthawks contract until after the UFL season has ended.

Only reason i don't like this move is because we signed clowney last week and the WR's is not our problem its the QB's.

I completely agree. (And I will even add Fox/Coaches to the list of our problems.)

But, there's nothing we can do about that for now. So, we can hope for guys who can contribute, and give the illusion that our offense is better than what it is. I think that Thomas adds that. He's a playmaker in the open-field, and was just hated on by Shanahan, who, let's be honest, hates on all of the players he doesn't like.

The next few weeks will be interesting, to say the least.

I don't really agree the problem is our QB. I think that the QB is part of it, but certainly, having no one other than Smith has hurt us for a long time. If Gettis and Thomas (or Clowney or Edwards or Lafell...) can become legit #2 and #3s, or hell, even two #3s, we'll be in much better shape for our QB.... which can open up running lanes, take some people out of the box to make the O-line look better, etc...

Reading quotes from people who have been going to the games, have read countless times that our WR's have been open on almost every play, our QB's just can't find them. I would rather sign a vet QB, then another unaccomplished WR.

I agree to some degree. But, at some point, the blame falls onto two people. The QB and the HC.

I think our list of problems goes like this (in order):

Head Coach

Offensive Coordinator

Quaterbacks Coach

Quarterback

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
