Bobcats Release Javaris Crittenton

Charlotte Bobcats General Manager Rod Higgins announced today that the team has waived guard Javaris Crittenton. In four preseason appearances, he averaged 3.3 points, 1.8 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 13:27 minutes.

Crittenton has played in 113 career NBA games for the Lakers, Grizzlies and Wizards, averaging 5.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 16.4 minutes. The two-year veteran was initially selected by the Lakers with the 19th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

The Bobcats roster now stands at 17.

The Charlotte Bobcats, who became the NBA’s 30th team when they joined the league in 2004-05, finished the 2009-10 season with a franchise-best 44-38 overall record (31-10 at home) and first-ever playoff appearance. The Bobcats host the Detroit Pistons in preseason action at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC.

Several more cuts need to be made. I imagine Darius Miles will be cut next.

Wasn't Javaris the one involved in the Arenas gun debacle in Washington? Either way, he won't be missed.

How come the Bobcats are teh suck right now in preseason? I just feel a letdown year coming from these guys (resting on laurels, no talent upgrades) - similar to another pro team in Charlotte.

We sucked last year in pre-season too, we've won like 3 games in preseason under LB. Don't put too much stock in it.

The difference between Bobcats and Panthers are the Bobcats actually TRIED making some deals. We would have had Harris, if Denver didn't back out. The Dampier trade just didn't work out like we thought it would.

Yeah, the Diaw thing puzzles me. He is lauded for his multi-dimensional skillset, but what I want as a fan is a guy who plays his position great, not plays all positions okay, and won't pass up the open shot to try and thread the needle to a cutting teammate that has little chance of getting through. His turnovers are glaring, his positive stats like rebounds and assists go unnoticed to me when I watch even though he has statistically sound games. With Diaw, I'm always anticipating the next dumb mistake.

I know I sound like a hater, but I'd give up his versatility in the lineup for a true POWER forward.

Diaw is really an enigma. He's a PG in a PFs body. I, for one, love what he brings to the table but I understand why people don't like his game.

Because he plays a notoriously tough, nose to the grindstone position on the court but plays it like a frenchman, to be honest. It's the same reason that I am not all that concerned about the loss of Ajinca. I would hate to paint with a broad brush, but it's very rare to find a European big that is willing and able to go to the dirty area and make his bones down there. I don't care how much natural skill you have, if you play soft then you play soft and that's not something you can just wake up one day and find.

If Diaw had as much heart as he has skill, he would be a very valuable player. It's just that far too often he settles for shots outside of high percentage range and passes out of the post instead of dropping that butt and making something happen down there.

I'm not totally disagreeing with you but we were without Jax. And I also found this stat:

In the past six seasons, 11 teams have gone through the preseason either undefeated or with one loss and all 11 have made the playoffs. During that same span eight teams have won just one game or have gone winless, and only one of those eight teams (the 2007-08 Cavaliers) made the playoffs.

I don't believe records in the preseason are all that telling but that's an interesting stat.

      This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.

      None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.

      I've got nothing else to say really than: Ayup. Here we are again. Again.  All we can really hope for is progress. If we improve as much again, it'll be good. If we don't, it'll be foretold.
