I heard high ankle sprains could take up to a month to recover from.

Does anyone know the status of Smitty and his availability against the Niners?

How does that have anything to do with it? If he's healthy enough, he will play regardless of who the QB is.

I thought it was pretty well known that Smith was not happy Clausen was starting and with Moore back in the saddle, a guy who can get him the ball (whether good or bad), he might be more encouraged to get healthy.

You must not really watch sports. It happens all the time. I'm not saying he faked his injury or that he wouldn't be back this week regardless but if he's questionable and his "guy" is in at QB rather than someone who hasn't gotten him the ball he might take a chance.

From my own experience with a 3rd degree ankle sprain, even if he came back this week I'd expect him to be 50-75% at best... I think it'll be at least another week and when he does come back, I'm not expecting a whole lot that first week. But, this is all speculation as I haven't heard anything about him....
