Currently playing...

Chris Long (son of Howie)

Clay Matthews III (son of Clay Jr, nephew of Bruce)

Kellen Winslow II (son of Kellen I)

Chris Simms (son of Phil)

Lofa Tatupu (son of Mosei)

Matt Hasselbeck (son of Don)

Peyton Manning (son of Archie, duh)

Eli Manning (ditto)

Formerly in the NFL...

Brian Griese (son of Bob)

Tim Hasselbeck (son of Don, Matt's brother)

Ryan Nece (son of Ronnie Lott)

Ran Carthon (son of Maurice, currently on the same staff)

Marques Tuiasosopo (son of Manu)

Dan Klecko (son of Joe)

Anthony Dorsett (son of Tony)

Currently in college...

Nick Toon (son of Al, who apparently never heard of Nickelodeon)

Casey Matthews (son of Clay, younger brother of Clay III)

Matt Simms (son of Phil, Chris' younger brother, still has his spleen)

London Fryar (son of Irving Fryar)

Chris Feagles (son of Jeff, and yeah he counts)

Mike Golic Jr (son of Mike, from Mike and Mike)

Jake Golic (the younger of the Golic boys)

Austin Collinsworth (son of Cris, teammates with the Golic boys at Notre Dame)

Nate Montana (take a guess)

Jack Elway (ditto)

And of course, there was Michael Munoz (almost)

The Matthews boys are actually third generation players (grandpa Clay Sr played for the Niners). I think the only members of the Matthews family that don't play football are their mothers and sisters.

One other note that amuses me.

Chris Mortensen's son Alex plays quarterback (graduated from Arkansas). He was available in this past year's draft.

At one point in the draft broadcast, Chris turned to ESPN colleague Mel Kiper to ask him for an evaluation of son Alex as a draft prospect.

Mel's response? "I think he has a great future in coaching"

Alex wasn't drafted, but the Titans took him to camp as an undrafted. He didn't even make it to first cuts.

Yeah Scot, it does make ya feel old when you see this.

Just here in town NU has a guy coaching that I watched play when I was in grad school, Pat Fitzgerald. Guy is younger than me and is coaching div I.

I am a man, and not yet 40, but it still kinda freaks me out.

Walter's daughter is a sideline reporter for some of the Big10 games too.

    • Latest video I wrote is out. While I try to write with no bias, I have to say I am not 100% sure that the right guy was convicted. Let me know what you think.
    • I quite literally have said multiple times this week that Bryce did not play well on Sunday. What in the world are you even talking about? Jesus Christ son, at least pretend to have a grip on reality rather than trying to constantly make yourself the victim. Hell, look at you now pretending to be victimized by poo emojis and the ignore function because of your views on the QB. I don't give a poo if you like Bryce Young and have had no issues interacting with other posters that are done with him. You, however, cannot have a difference of opinion without resorting to insults. Case in point, your very first response to me in this thread. That is what got you put on ignore and poo emoji'd: you acting like a shithead. We've had this back and forth multiple times now where you say I don't like you because you don't like Bryce, I clarify that I just don't like your engaging in bad faith and acting like a bitchy little teenager whenever your perspective is challenged. I thought that maybe, just maybe we could start the season off on the right foot and have an exchange of ideas without the weird sexual tension or whatever it is that has you all hot and bothered whenever you see my name. Clearly, I gave you too much credit. Back to the toilet you go.
    • It's a QB driven league, which means that all of the parts surrounding the QB have to be in order. No OL? QB isn't going to have time to throw or be able to hand it off. No weapons? Won't matter how well they play, can't catch it for them. Bad coaching? They're not the ones designing and calling plays. Football is one of the ultimate team sports. All 11 players need to be in sync rather than one player being dominant (imo). Hell, even with Tom Brady, not a single one of his rings came without a top-10 defense on the other side of the ball or a top-10 OL in front of him. I can understand people having lost patience with Bryce, especially starting off on the wrong foot for the third season in a row. That's not an issue. The issue I have is with folks being intentionally misleading and attempting to tell other posters what they're not allowed to talk about. Considering how often Red has claimed others have done this to him it is interesting at best, disingenuous at worst for him to turn around and do the same.
