Movies that take great stories...

...and make them suck :(

Watching the original Dracula on AMC right now, but thinking of the "Bram Stoker's Dracula" version, which I hated.

That movie may have been "Dracula" but it wasn't "Bram Stoker's". As written, Dracula was meant to be evil, not romantic.

Add in that Anthony Hopkins as Abraham Van Helsing should have been great, but the direction turned the character into a slightly psychotic goofball.

Waste of a decent cast, overall, and did damage to a classic story.

I think Van Helsing was an attempt to make an English version of "Vampire Hunter D" and they seized on Van Helsing as their monster fighter.

The idea of van Helsing as a crusading enemy of evil isn't necessarily a bad one, but it was pretty poorly executed.

They'd have done better just to acquire the rights to VHD and make a straight English version of it.

I hate just about anything that has any association with Tim Burton or David Lynch.

I actually liked the concept of the new Mummy movies (making him scarier than a guy wrapped in bandages hobbling around at a speed that wouldn't catch a grandmother using a walker) but what made me unhappy was that they turned it into an action movie, not a horror movie.

(same guy did Van Helsing)

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
