What do you know about Lumberton?

I'd like to hear your opinion of the area.

I have been contacted about a contract to hire position there, and am unsure of the area. I know it has UNC Pembroke close by, but that is all. I have generally not heard anything good. Not really any bad though so I come to the huddle where theres always someone to say something bad about anything.

So are the schools crappy? Is the night life non-existent? Would you rather drive around this area of the state as opposed to through it?

James R. Jordan, Sr., the father of basketball legend Michael Jordan, was murdered on July 23, 1993, at a rest stop off Interstate 95 near Lumberton.

thats a definite strike against the area

i don't know B. I just looked at info on wiki, and according to it...the average household may not be able to afford a computer. They may never see the thread.

Yeah, you have a point...

I'm only a little familiar with the area... aside from traveling through there on occasion, I have done a little business with Robeson County and dealt with some of their county employees and spent a little time there in downtown Lumberton. It's not a bad little town, but like I said, you're used to Wilmington, and it's by no means a metropolis, but there's a pretty big difference between the two.

LIAR!! Random drunk guy at the bar came up to me on sat tapped me on the shoulder and told me Jordan's dad was still alive I said "ok thanks for sharing" he continued to ramble on about how changed his face and Michael paid for it. Pretty sure it was Venom talking to me.

its sounding like I don't want to be full time for this place. may have to contract for them though until they offer the job IF it makes sense. meaning they'd have to cover living expenses. rules of unemployment pretty much obligate me to.

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
