AGH! My boss makes me so mad

So, basically what I do is I am an admin assistant to my boss and also do the marketing for our company.

My boss has got to be the laziest person ever. He doesn't have a college degree, he is like 400 lbs, and always bitches about the dumbest stuff like how his back hurts or he doesn't want to do poo.

He never gets in until around 1030 and always leaves around 6. We prepare retirement plan proposals and most of our clients are referred from the Financial Planning Firm upstairs who we sort of report to, but they do not own our company, our headquarters are in CA.

So, last week this prospect called and I was talking to him and he informed me he had sent my boss and email and had left him a voice message and he had not yet returned his call. I promised him he would return it. That day when he got there I told him the prospect called and he gave me some bullshit like "I don't want to talk to him today" and I was like umm, so you're just not gonna return his call? This really pissed me off and the guy called me again yesterday to let me know my boss STILL hasn't returned emails/calls.

Now, this week, my boss and 2 co workers are in Cali at our corporate headquarters. I have had at least 3 people call me already this week and say he hasn't returned their calls or emails. I also have the girl upstairs emailing me asking for proposals which he KNOWS are due but hes too fuging lazy to work on while he's in Cali. I have done my part and entered the data and given him the files and told him they needed them ASAP.

Normally I wouldn't give a poo, but every client that I help bring in, I get $$ for. Its really starting to drive me crazy. I've had to apologize for him at least 5 times already this week and there's only so far I can go with being firm with him and getting him to sit down and do his fuging work.

Amazes me that he has been employed here for so long. I mean, even my co workers complain about him all the time b/c hes so fuging lazy and doesn't get back to their clients when they need to speak with him.

That's all. Just needed to vent there for a second so I wouldn't scream in the office.:banghead:

haha I can't hes been here longer than anyone in our office and somehow he always manages to make the corporate boss happy even though the corp boss knows that he is fuging lazy. I just don't get it.

p.s. corporate boss is also a huge perv. Makes a comment almost everytime I talk to him on the phone.

They are probably scared he'd file a discrimination suit against them, claiming he was fired due to his weight. He might even be operating, as it were, on that assumption and is just coasting.

sounds like you need a new job.

I have a similar problem with my boss, but he at least does his work.

I have been looking. I took this one b/c they offered it to me and I was somewhat desperate at the time. Took a pay cut coming here. Have interviewed with Time Warner, CBS, and a couple other companies lately and haven't gotten the jobs b.c they hired someone over me or don't have the approval to hire someone right now.

Had a phone interview this morning with a lady. Hopefully that pans out.

I also have the sneaky suspicion they haven't fired him b/c he is gay...

People like that survive in corporate America because they are using something as a cover. It may be they put the blame on others, falsify their work load, or have bosses that the don't have to answer to, or something. If you want to get him canned, you can document real monetary loses due to him not giving a poo and send it up the chain, such as lost clients due to him not returing calls/email.

Sounds like a fun place to work...

Not much you can do sounds like other than try and deal with it... sucks that he's costing you $$$. Be careful how you deal with it... don't want to get a bad recommendation if you decide to change jobs or something...

Next time you talk to your corp boss, record his stupid ass so you'll have it on record.

He is actually there? You always say he is never in.

Hes not here until tomorrow b/c they have been in Cali. I wouldnt be fuging surprised if he called tomorrow and said he was going to take vacation b/c he is "jet lagged"

But yeah, he normally will come in and bitch about stuff and then leave b.c he "doesnt feel good" , or he just doesnt come in at all. Drives me fugin nuts. I am a very motivated/determined person and its really hard for me to be patient with him.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
