Here's hoping Edwards gets a start at QB this year

Armanti shouldn't start, but he should see time as a wildcat QB in various packages. God knows our offense can't get any worse, and the quarterbacks we have are all exactly the same - and with our porous offensive line that's just a recipe for disaster. The main question will be if Armanti can throw the ball well so that it's not an automatic "Here's Edwards, so get ready for 3 QB draws!" If he can keep the defense honest, I think his athleticism could at least make the offense a little more diverse.

I certainly wouldn't openly root for him to fail so that I could be the "told ya so" guy on an Internet message board towards Appalachian State fans that I'll never meet in my life. If he ends up being our best option at QB, I hope he's amazing. And I'll root him on accordingly, just as I will Clausen or Pike or West Texas A&M guy or whoever.

hahahha

Yeah good luck against Wofford this week. Thats some mean competition. Are you playing Independence the following week?

You can laugh at them all you want but that is Jerry Richardson's Alma Mater and he has given and given to them. They are a good Triple Option team. GaTech has won a lot of games since Johnson went there from Navy and GaSo before that. Who knows, maybe Richardson will make the Wofford football coach, Ayers, coach of the Panthers. If it wasn't for taking Mike Ayers away from Wofford, I bet he would. I believe their only lose this year was about a touchdown to South Carolina.

Do you think Independence could have beaten the Panthers last Sunday. I almost believe some of their Championship team could have played them hard.

....these posts are full of so much fuging fail.....

You're seriously suggesting that a high school football team could hang with an NFL team even as bad as ours is.....

I said, "I almost believe".

Just saying, watch the DVD of how badly we played. It was no "romp through the park".

    • More praise of Renfrow from Tim Weaver (formerly of USA Today's Panthers Wire, now SI.com), and also what I told some of you, my Huddle friends, from the start: keep it all in perspective, and don't conveniently---and perhaps unfairly, discount and label Renfrow as a JAG when it was a very debilitating illness affecting his play.    "It's understandable to be skeptical about Renfrow's abilities at this late point in his career. After all, he missed all of last season due to a bout of ulcerative colitis that also took a serious toll on his production in 2022 and 2023."   When Renfrow is healthy, he's an above average guy. Being 29 may hurt or help his chances depending upon perspective, but 29 for receivers generally means that there's still (sometimes plenty) gas in the tank. Renfrow also obviously has plenty of motivation and has come with his game face.   "Then agan, seeing is believing and by all accounts Renfrow has been very impressive since joining the Panthers a few months ago... Where Renfrow will fit in Carolina's new-look receiver corps remains to be seen, but at this rate it's going to be hard to exclude him from the initial 53-man roster." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/hunter-renfrow-sick-route-panthers-training-camp Read the room, ladies and gentlemen. And don't get it twisted; Renfrow isn't the most talented receiver on the team, but we have seen his ceiling, when healthy, in a Raiders offense that wasn't necessary replete with talent. Consider what he can do, especially in the slot, in a Panthers offense primed with young talent (no pun intended). From sick to "sick routes," eh?
    • That is literally what I am talking about. Those were 53 man cuts. Not at the beginning of camp.  I would say the odds of Barno being back are extremely thin.
