Steve Smith won back my respect today

That hit on Tailib at the end sealed it.

The guy worked with the young guys today.. esp Clausen.. and even got in a shot on the end for what will probably be a fine for that hit on Clausen (defenseless) on the second QB sneak. Forget about whether or not you like Clausen, that was done by Smith to prevent it happening again to his QB and was a good penalty.

Regardless throughout the game I saw him on the field coaching the rookie WRs, keeping a positive attitude, etc. It was the opposite of what I had seen the first half of the season. So I'm calling 'em like I see 'em. The guy looked like a team-first pro out there today.

He never lost mine. Steve Smith was the man today, was the man 5 years ago, and will continue being the man in the future. Lately, the popular thing to do around here was to bash Smitty, but I'll never bash the heart and soul of the Panthers. He's been carrying this franchise on his back for so long.

When he went after Talib at the end of the game, I dont necessarily think it was to have Clausens back(It couldve been, I dont know). I think Smitty had a beef with Talib, and finally found a chance to get a shot at him LOL.

I can't believe all the hate Smith gets. He's the best WR threat we have and he was getting open today. The dude is basically reason we've had any success the past decade. He's competitive and football is about hitting people. I wish more of our guys would go out and give people a piece of our mind. He hit Clausen late and Smith made him pay for it. You guys talk all this poo but he is still a great WR. He gets open, the problem is he can't throw the ball to himself.

This.

It's hilarious how all you bitches hate on Smitty and say that he's not good anymore. He's had the worst QB crew in the league, the worst play-caller in the league and one of the worst supporting WR casts in the league to work with. But somehow some of you guys think you can make a fair judgment based off of this season alone.

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
