Cam newton

7:30 tonight against Oregon State. Much better prospect than Alex Smith, while not nearly the runner that Cam is, he's run for 445 yards and 3 TDs and isn't some kind of pocket statue like Ryan Mallett. He's completing 70% of his passes too, something Smith never did while playing at Utah.

Believe me I don't care. If the new Coach likes Newton over Luck, I'm fine with it. But I won't use race as an excuse for why we didn't get one over the other...

For what it's worth, I think Newton is the 2nd best QB prospect. I definitely prefer him over Mallett and Locker.

Just say no to Newton...reminds of Russell...Just wants the money but won't work for it

See, I don't believe that, this has all been about his daddy and what he has done behind the scenes. I think Newton is the real deal, yesterday proved that, if you never watch but one game of his, yesterdays game was the one to watch.

I dont care either way neither. I know our owner, I know our franchise, and I know there's no way in hell they'd ever draft a Cam Newton. The Panthers dont draft black QBs. Never have, never will. Cam Newton returns kicks in a Panthers uniform. Our franchise is stuck on only one thing, one flavor, and wants to be one dimensional. Thats why all our QBs are the same, same skill set, and get the same results. There's no deception with us, nothing unpredictable. And thats a big factor why we lose. Until they go out and do otherwise, I can only judge them on the last 16 years. I do want to see this guy Luck play and see what he's got. He very well could be our QB next year. But anybody holding their breath for the Panthers to draft a black QB is commiting suicide. And I say that as a die hard fan & supporter who will root for them this Sunday against them Browns. :yesnod:

Can we make the whole team black so KT will be happy?

Its not about me being "happy", its about us being "better", but we're so stuck on one thing and so determined to see it work, we're too blinded to see it. Lets just stick with what we've been doing though guys, I mean its worked out so well for us so far right?

I'll say it again, Cam is the only other QB prospect I'd take besides Luck. He's a smarter, more accurate Vince Young. That said, Luck>Cam. If you haven't seen Luck play, do yourself a favor and watch him. I have all year, being on the west coast, and he shreds Mallett & Locker in comparison. No contest whatsoever.

You used to say we'd never play a black QB until someone corrected you.

Sooooo... who would you have had us draft? What black QB did we miss? Pat White?

Who is better than Cam? Why wouldnt you want the best available at the position? Thats the thing I love about the NBA, everybody wants the best players no matter what. :yesnod:
i've watched both luck and cam play and i would say that luck is better but cam is an amazing talent as well and by far the only other QB i would want from this class. i'd rather have him than clausen, thats for sure....and that isn't really hate on clausen. i just think either luck or newton would be better than him. both of those guys are going to be studs.

best case scenarios is luck = more mobile peyton manning and newton = more mobile big ben/mature mike vick.

the success that vick has had this year as a passer has gotten a lot of people and teams excited about newton's prospects...the only thing that is going to hold him back is the rule breaking thing. i don't care about that much. circumstantial evidence for the laptop deal, cheating on tests....pretty common (though it doesn't excuse it), and the $$ thing....i don't know what to make of that, except when he gets in the NFL, no one is going to care about him getting paid.

you put newton in the pistol offense, and there are few defenses that are going to be able to deal with him. long term newton > vick, imo.

what he needs when he goes pro is to be on the same team with mcnabb. i credit him with vick's turning into a professional as much as anyone. i think he would do a world of good for newton. it would probably do newton some good to sit behind mcnabb for a year as well and then later to have mcnabb on the sidelines.

i wouldn't have any problem with newton coming here and as soon as he did i promise you that 95% of the fan base that objects to him would turn into newton fans within a year, probably sooner. even with all the drama, he's a much less polarizing figure than vick, if nothing else because he hasn't killed any dogs or played for the falcons. the only major holdouts would be fans of rival auburn teams, but they'd get over it also.

i will say that this year could be the year that richardson and hurney would draft newton because i feel they are going to want someone that has star potential and that could energize the fanbase and electrify the team and either newton or luck could do that. i will also say i could understand him wanting to stay away from someone who has all that drama surrounding him, esp. if there is any validity to the charges.
