Do you think we will see a diffrent concept on D this season.

This is not about the 3-4 or the 4-3 its about how our New DC will approach the game and how he will use his personnel. Like if we will see more man to man, bump and run, some coverages to cover the lack of talent we might have with our DEs this season, and so on. Or will we still go with the bend but dont break and rush 4 to get pressure like we have done for 7 years.

Hate to sound like a smartass (I'm really not trying to), but it will depend upon who comes to be our defensive coordinator and what sort of new talent we bring in, whether through the draft or free agency.

It's just tough to say what we will do without knowing who our new coordinator will be or how large a role Fox really played in the defense.

This.

If he's well known, respected, and has experience, he and Fox will work together or mayb just maybe Fox will give him full control. If he's some scrub, first-timer, or promotion, Fox will tell him what he wants done and will tell him to formulate a gameplan in that vein. Or they'll just stick with the same exact plan from last season.

Thats what Im kinda worried about cause rushing 4 is not gonna get it done this season. Losing Pep+Weak FA/Draft= Fail if we rush just 4. We are gonna need a hard nose DC that knows what he is doing.

It will be a 4-3 scheme that relies on pressure from the front four to be successful. Depending on the players we bring in, the new DC will either look like a genius or a bad hire.

I hope your wrong cause I doubt we will get much pressure with our front 4.

i'd def like to see more jamming from our CBs. i think the 4-3 is fine. its just a matter of being creative with it, but not too complex. Hopefully the new DC doesn't let Fox take over, cuz that's why there are so many coaching positions to begin with. For one man to take on more than one position is ludacris.

What would I like to see.? I want Kemo to continue to occupy the middle and play over the center and take up 2 people. I would like us to get a big fast tackle on the right side in the Jenkins mode (hated to see him go). Then we need to get a FA DE who can hold the edge and get 7 or 8 sacks. I figure Johnson and Brayton colllectively did a good job as a pair on the left side. Lewis makes a great Al Wallace type 6th guy and Walker et all are all decent backups.

It would leave us replacing Peppers and picking up a dominant right tackle to hold the line and get pressure on passing downs. With the trade we should get for him, as well as the cap savings, there is no reason we can't get 2 quality guys who can contribute right away much like Peppers did his first year and Otah did this past season. Rookies can really make a difference with great coaching.

It is really simple. If the defense is in the top 5 and can make stops when it needs to, Fox will be totally hands off. He only gets involved when things aren't going well. He isn't stupid and has lasted this long because he really does know what he is doing. He is the only coach in the NFC South still left. I am totally hopeful that next year is even better.

I do agree with this. We have only heard of Fox helping out for about 2 years now and our D has needed that help.

I hate when People say "This is Fox's D and things will stay the same" because is has been reported that Del Rio used more zone and Trgo used more man so thus its not Fox D its the coordinators D and Fox just makes sure they are doing the right thing and keeping the D in the top 10.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
