lol Manning also had an Oline, he was sacked 22 times for the year, Clausen has been sacked 24 times in like 5 games

Manning played a much tougher schedule and threw at least 1 TD in every game but 1. 15 games he did that. You can't continue to bring up Manning's rookie season.

Manning was simply a MUCH better QB as a rookie. And Manning has always done better behind crap offensive lines than someone like Jimmy Clausen.

One problem is that fans keep comparing Clausen to 1st round picks that were being groomed to start as soon as they went to their 1st practice. This was not the case with Clausen at all. He was a 2nd round pick who the Panthers didn't expect to start until probably next year, because they had confidence in Matt Moore. He was definitely not taking the majority of the 1st team reps everyday in TC like Bradford was.

in 07 Matt Moore was an undrafted FA and started as a rookie....and wasn't given reps w/ starters early. Ignoring everything Moore did later and just looking at a rookie playing in the NFL. Clausen sucks compared to Moore of 07.

Moore didn't have an offense around him signficantly better than Clausen.......and Moore did play signifcantly better than Clausen has. OL looked like crap that year when a bad QB like Carr was on the field or a guy like Vinny getting beat up. 1 WR. RB just as good as what Clausen has been seeing recently.

again, the Clausen bandwagon just is running out of stuff to throw on the wall to see if it sticks. Clausen has been horrible. That is why he apoligized to Beason. This late in the year.....there is no excuse for exactly how bad he is. If Clausen even knows that.

Most reasonable people had to know that he would most likely struggle as a rookie, especially when the plan wasn't to start him right away and he wasn't getting 1st team reps all along. Not to mention that our O-line has been horrid at pass pro this year, regardless of who the QB is.

I don't hate Clausen. In fact, I think most of the negative stuff spread about him prior to the draft was bogus. I think he is a good kid and a hardworker. He just has always been hyped into something more than he ever really was. He plays like he did in college.....and that is why I didn't want Carolina to draft him.

it isn't all Clausen's fault. Clausen just doesn't have any business starting in the NFL right now. That much is certain. Fox/Davidson don't help and neither does the OL...or having Goodson in for pass protection. Clausen shouldn't be out there.....and Fox is probably ending his career. I feel bad for Jimmy. If he had a shot...Fox is killing it.

Then they excused every issue. So he took a beating as it became clear that all the nut huggers and excuses held no water and he was as bad or worse then most folks thought he would be as a rookie.

If folks didn't defend him so vehemently, others wouldn't trash him.

I don't blame losing solely on Clausen, much of the team is playing bad. However, his 1 touchdown in 6-7 starts is just horrible. Even with a horrible supporting cast, a QB should be expected to throw some TDs. Also, the defense cannot be solely blamed for us having to pass late in the game either. Without our offense scoring points, it is only a matter of time before the other team scores and we are put into a hole.

Your forgetting the part where Moore was absolutely atrocious and how the Moore "nut-huggers" got their panties wedged in between their crack when he got benched because they couldn't accept Moore isn't the QB they made him out to be last year.

Funny. I remember that Moore was the starter after Clausen sucked so badly and was injured and put on IR. So with no one else to turn to they went back to Clausen. If Moore was healthy he would still be the starter. But the bright side is with Clausen we are still in the Lucks sweepstakes with Moore we would been eliminated by now.
