Is Charles Johnson top 10?

CJ will probably finish the season with at least 10 sacks. He seems to be the only consistent player on the defensive line. He is super strong with good pass rushing skills. He looks a little faster to me this year than in previous seasons as well. Do you think he's a top 10 caliber DE?

So far he has more tackles than some of the more popular DE's in the league. His 8.5 sacks is more than Julius Peppers. However he doesn't have any passes defensed, recorded at least and 1 FF.

We need to get a DT to help him out. I think Hardy will be great next year.

He has the potential to be, but I don't think he's there yet.

As you eluded to, to further improve he's going to have to have some help, particularly from the DT spot.

Yeah, I would say that if CJ could get some push in the middle then he would be one of the top DE's in the league. He is not flashy and he doesn't really pass the eye test like Peppers, Williams, Allen and some other DE's do but he is consistent and very fundamentally sound too.

He's easily been top 10 this year, maybe even top 5. If we were a playoff team he'd be in the running for the pro bowl. It's imperative we re-sign him in the offseason.

It's up in the air. I just hope he continues to improve like he has this season. If he does, we won't Peppers at all.

HELL no. You guys are as bad as Fox announcers thinking Godfrey is playing at a Pro Bowl level because of stats. CJ has been one of the few guys on the team like James Anderson that has exceeded expectations, but he's just a guy when it comes to playing the run and gets most of his sacks through pass coverage and easy clean-up duty. Not bashing the guy because he's definitely improved, but we're so starved for quality play that we'll latch on to the tiniest thing.

CJ finally got his shot and has played bananas. He is one of several players we have to lock in to new contracts.

It merely appears he's Top 10 given the relative atrocity the rest of the team is. I'm surprised someone hasn't used the same relative comparison to suggest Goodson as a Top 10.

Look, I like CJ at DE. I think he was a good draft pick and I think he'll be very good for years to come, but he's not yet a Top 10. He just looks that good when surrounded by crap.
