Sources: Panthers to pick Andrew Luck

He's worthy of the pick, certainly, but we have too much to fix and an impatient fanbase. The question is can he win immediately? The odds say no. Who knows though, an offensive-minded coach could potentially speed his progress. It's a matter of free agency and we still have the same FO. Unless they change course, I'm sticking to my guns. If Hurney miraculously plugs a few holes with decent FAs, I'll be more open to drafting Luck.

Oh lord here we go again.....we need a guard, a DT or two, a #2 CB and a legit QB.....all of those except for QB can be addressed in FA. ....go root for another team or go back to basketball......

How many franchise, 10yr plus QB's were addressed by an NFL team via Free Agency????? I cant think of one! Most free agency QB pick ups are stop gap guys that maybe give you a great year or two.

Franchise QB's come via the draft!!!

As a Charger fan and 53 year NC resident...I come in peace and offer words of wisdom. I'd love to see the Carolina Panthers have a good football team!

I know some of Jerry Richardson's kinfolk in Nash County, NC. I know where he came from, how hard his dad worked to make it for his family and about him turning $9000 of NFL money into Hardee's million$. I respect his decisions.

I also employ him to look into getting Andrew Luck (to come out as a junior) and to get his coach, Jim Harbaugh as the head coach of the Panthers. You don't get this opportunity many times in a lifetime of owning a football team. I think it's a move that could make great Panther football for 12+ years. The Stanford Cardinals are a well coached team in many areas; I'd certainly want much of that staff as the staff of the Panthers. Most have NFL experience. I've watched Standford 4 times this year....that's not just a team of a very good QB and head coach.

Personally, in my opinion, making this move would be Jerry Richardson's best since he bought into his first Hardee's franchise, way, way back in the day. It may even be better! This chance will never come Jerry Richardson's way again! It may for the Panthers....if they last? Take it Jerry...coming from a neighboring Franklin County guy. I think the Luck/Harbough combo would be great for Charlotte, NC and surrounding area.

Indeed, here we go again. I, like you, thought we were ONLY a couple of players away and sadly that notion is wrong. If Richardson tells Hurney to stay out of the FA market, we get Luck, a 3rd through 7th round picks. MAYBE we get one starter out of that. So Luck and one, maybe two more rookies will turn this team around?

Here are our needs: QB, OG, DT, DT, OLB, CB and those are just the starters. Another OT, OG, S and LB would be nice to have in reserve, quality reserves.

They're idiots. If Luck would've been the QB this year, we would've won at least 5+ more games. Imagine Gettis and Lafell with Luck next year... AND if Smitty comes back, wow...

We're not as far off as they think. I literally think that's the piece we need to make us a consistent winner, everything else can be addressed as we go. DT is a close second.

lol you really believe that?

Why do we need a LB, we have an abundance of them....do you even watch this team....

Warner, yes he went to NYG and then Arizona but he was that. Brees will be that.

Uhh did you even read my post....

I thought I did... i read and took what you said as we can address the QB positions via free agency just as we can all the other positions fans are saying we can address via free agency.

If I miss understood what you said then I am sorry.

    • It’s going to get wild after this Sunday.  I would assume Dave has a really smart plan.   Sorta like the AZ plan last year.    After a big turnover heavy  bad game Bryce normally reels it in.  Bryce will have one of his standard 60% for 200 days and the Bryce defenders will use that as a “ I told you he is good” games.
    • Bryce is a really smart kid and I'm sure he knows all the answers to the test but he hasn't been able to overcome his lack of physical tools and other DC's know this and play him accordingly. I think Bryce has good processing but when the correct read is the WR 30 to 40 yards down field and you have a defensive lineman coming at you what can he really do? He just doesn't have the arm to effectively and consistently hurt the defense and I think that's what's gonna do him in.  Pime example look at the INT versus Dallas last year when Thelien was wide open down the seam and Bryce threw it from a clean pocket and the ball was way short. Dc's watched that and knew that Bryce can't throw the ball deep.
    • I'd give Bryce until the trade deadline to prove he's the answer and if he's not I'm dumping him for whatever pick we can get and I'm riding with Dalton the rest of the way.  2 and a half years is enough time to determine if he can be the QB going forward so for Bryce he needs to come out over the next couple of weeks and show that. The other players in the locker room don't wanna waste another year of their careers waiting to see if you'll ever figure it out.  If you took a poll of the players in the locker room I'm sure they'd rather lose with a respected veteran Dalton who at least gives them some creditability versus losing with Bryce who the entire media will say was let down by his supporting cast when in reality it's Bryce's physical limitations that are holding this team back.
