NFL source: 49ers will hire either Trent Baalke or Mike Lombardi as GM, possibly tonight. 49ers have been told Harbaugh is OK with either.

More: Harbaugh apparently will arrive in Bay Area at some point today, expected to speak with Jed York & GM tomorrow or soon after.

Source: Likeliest scenario is Baalke announced as GM tonight, multiple coach interviews tomorrow, then Baalke & Harbaugh presser Thursday.

I read that Harbaugh and Baalke have the same agent as well...

Idk how I feel about this though, because I'm worried that if he stays close to Stanford then Luck may be more inclined to stay. I know it isn't a very likely scenario because being an NFL coach is a full-time job, and he won't really be there for Luck to help him anymore... But, in terms or familiarity and comfort, I don't like that he's staying close by.

BTW, is this THE BAALKE?

Once JH leaves Stanford i don't think Luck will be concerned about being close to him.

Doesn't matter where he coaches to me. For one I think he will flop as an HC in the NFL. I'm now only concerned about Luck declaring for the draft.

This...Only thing I'm concerned about is surrounding him is if he leaves it makes our chances of drafting Luck all the more real.

I doubt he would stay just so he could still talk to his former HC who is now in the NFL. They make phones for that, if Harbaugh bolts I'm almost 100% certain Luck will to....

I'm hoping it's that simple. Hopefully in Luck's mind it's "If Jim Leaves, I Leave..."

For some reason I still think Oliver Luck's hearty laugh after Andrew was asked on the stage if he was going pro was telling...

Luck said himself last night that Harbaugh's decision would "definitely have an impact" on his own...

    • So... what metrics for production do you believe display these issues/limitations best? Are we only using total passing yards, height, and weight thresholds? If so, then what are those thresholds?
    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
