I mean really it's only til the 15th of January, when underclassmen have to declare. After that, this question won't be up for serious debate. Unless Luck stays.

true, but it's a good debate because we dont know if Luck is staying or going now, BUT when he comes out, we pretty much know who the pick will be

At the #1 spot you really have to take the best player in the draft. I think Fairley can be that guy, and we have a DT need.

i agree and if Luck stays, either Fairley, Peterson or AJ Green are those types of players.

Our need for a QB shouldn't force us into a shot in the dark pick on a guy like Newton, just because he plays that position.

i do NOT believe in taking a QB just because you think or you do need one, you take the best player on the board and Newton is FAR from that, i have him ranked as the 5th (4th if Luck stays) QB in the draft

Wow... Cam barely gets the lead? He's an amazing athlete. Wow...

In college he is, but i think in the NFL those runs will not happen often and he will have to learn to pass from the pocket more and more and that could take time, i dont think he's ready to start on day one.

I think past Luck, its a crap-shoot based on who is hired as a HC and staff. I think you can make a case for all of those players. If Luck DOES NOT declare however, I do not want to even think about drafting another one of those QBs with the first pick. At that point I hope the CBA has rookie caps this year, and we take PP or Fairley.

yeah i agree, but i have a feeling that if the CBA is done by the draft that the rules on the rookie cap will likely take place in 2012 not 2011, anyways, i think if Luck does NOT declare we have to go with best player on the board.

I agree, and what's sad is it hardly has any replies. I would be interested in this.

And even if we do, how about we talk about other potential candidates. Any chance we can trade someone and get us a 2nd round pick this year? Or if not who's looking like a good 3rd rounder that we may be able to pick up?

I still wanna go for another WR and an Offensive Lineman. Our O-line was not only weak this year, even next year, it's going to be full of banged up guys. I want someone fresh, and capable in the mix that can stay healthy.

What possible candidates do we have?

LOL, based on what? He's a bigger stronger Michael Vick that can break tackles. Vick transitioned fine to the pros and kept his style the same.

Except Newton has an accurate as hell arm too already.

I'm on board with Cam or Luck. If Luck doesn't declare, then Cam all the way.
