Am I naive or do others think we have the talent for a quick turn around?

I would think that with either Clausen, Luck/Mallett/Newton etc, there will still be a growth period so we aren't going to the playoffs next year unless we play a veteran backup and he plays like Jake did for us in 2003. I also doubt we get a veteran who is anything but a temporary fix until the rookies can learn the position. So we will take plenty of lumps on offense next year learning a new system. Depending on the hire, the defense may be retooled as well.

So to assume we will be a playoff team next year, while possible, is extremely optimistic and unlikely. I won't make any predictions until we see what happens down the road, but with the tough divisional teams we face in the NFC South, we have our hands full.

QB, 1 more O-line starter and lots of depth, and some DT's are my three biggest concerns. Fix those and yes I think we can "turn around" as you say, lest we forget. . . We're still in the toughest conference in the whole NFL.

I would say that we could go above .500 next year if that last statement wasnt a factor, but unfortunately it very much is the case.

We need to strengthen our secondary by adding a shut down corner and putting Marshall back in the nickel position. (If Marshall walks, then Munnerlyn) Add in a RG, patch up the d-line, Luck at QB with the right coaching staff, we will be a good team.

Hey look, a more sensible post!

And yes, I think that would be a good start. But we HAVE to fix the O-line. Luck isn't going to fix that wall of Swiss Cheese.
