Clausen will develop into a fine qb next season.

Bottom line is Clausen didn't play well enough to stabilize the QB position and the position should be addressed as if he's not even on the team. If Clausen beats out the competition then that's wonderful.

Yeah

Most of the fans have no confidence in Clausen. And neither does the offense for Lafell to say "He dat deal" about Luck, is a slap in the face to Clausen.

Or he simply answered the question and thinks Luck is really good

This fine young male is currently up in the mountains somewhere in Cali living out his brokeback fantasies. It's on twitter... He doesn't care about being a pro QB. There were reports during the season that the coaches questioned how dedicated he was and his work ethic...

That translated nicely to his on-field performance... That's the reason getting a 1st round QB that CAN PLAY was so important, because otherwise we're just gonna be reaching with stop-gap guys for years to come. Clausen isn't gonna be THAT much better.

I don't think he know's he's and NFL Quarterback. All he tweets about is Notre Dame and his old teammates. If anything, Clausen should have stayed in College. He's a self-important, egomaniac, spoiled jerk.

Agreed. I saw he was talking the other day about how he was Mallett and Pryor were "ballin" and I just kept thinking, "b*tch! You're in the NFL! You were given the opportunity to be a starting QB in the NFL. Only 32 people in the whole world can claim that at any given time. How bout you quit worrying about them and get your ass working, watching film, working on your delivery, etc."

Oh well... Then his fanboys will say, "what? so he's not allowed to have a life outside of football now?"

A real franchise QB would be working their a*s off trying to make themselves better. Just to disprove the critics. I could respect Clausen if he at LEAST tried to make some improvement and I'm sure the offense would to.

I disappointed Clausen up until the Arizona win, to which even during a winning performance I saw no legitimate improvements since earlier in the year. If the final game of the season had happened the first time we played ATL, I might have been able to force myself to believe that there were some positives.

However, with a new OC + QB coach, we only have up to go as far as I'm concerned. Like it or not, Clausen is on our roster and has a chance at starting again. I was ready to get my Super Bowl tickets reserved when Luck came out, but meh. At least with the CBA coming we have legitimate dollar value on the #1 pick and can still trade out of it to patch the rest of the leaks.

Cool? I'd poo my pants. I have wanted him ever since we missed out when the Pats traded him.

I didn't think he was going to be up for grabs. Are you sure he's even a possibility?

I thought RnR was referring to Clausen turning into a player similar to Cassel.

    • I mean I think the best case scenario has to hit for the Panthers and everyone else in the NFCS has to hit their worst case scenario.  Personally, I think this is the year that NO finally collapses and I think they finish 4th in the division regardless.  ATL is overrated but still likely a 6-9 win team. TB plays tough football, their defense will be there but their success depends on the offense, they too are a 6-9 win team.  The Panthers are probably 4-6 wins at best. If they find some sort of momentum during the season and get 7-8 wins, and TB and ATL struggle then maybe but I find it very unlikely.
    • We screwed up a couple years ago taking Bryce in the first place.  Nobody held a gun to our head to jump from #9 to #1.  Most people who keep up with draft news knew this 2024 QB class was loaded and we should have waited, which I advocated. It was a dumb move and I knew it.  Now we have to roll with Bryce another year.  That's fine, because this 2025 class isn't that great.  I like Ewers, but not super high on him.  If Bryce shows improvement, which I think he will, that should get him at least one more season before we have to decide on if he's the permanent answer or not.  I've said before, the 2026 draft is the next window for a franchise QB if Bryce isn't the answer. Bryce gets this year and next at a minimum.
    • Wild card for the worst record again.
