The guy never had a chance in San Fran he had what 5 different offensive coordinators.. he had to learn a new system every year he was in the Bay.

and bringing him here would be 6.... no thank you

he is better then what we have but all those different systems he has had to learn is like getting a chick with kids.... baggage/damaged goods

why do people want quarterbacks/players who completely tanked on their respective teams?

Alex Smith may have been in even a worse stiuation than any Panther QB could have been the last several years.

Ck out how many offenses/coordinators he's had to go through in his career.

Because we have no choice. There isn't a single other QB in the draft that will be ready to play day 1 as a starter, worth the number 1 pick and Vince Young will win us many more games than Clausen will.

Not to mention he CAN throw downfield!

LOL at this board and franchise. We lose out on Luck, and now are all pro-Newton, pro-Pike, pro-Young, and pro-Alex Smith. Jesus H. Christ it's going to be a long offseason. And I'm shocked...SHOCKED that PFFL, P55, Sylvian, RealDeal, and CRA haven't started a heavy re-sigh Moore campaign. Anyyyyy day now though...I expect it. ;)

Re-signing Moore was the first thread I made since I got back, and that was before Luck decided not to come out. And before Luck decided not to come out plenty of people seemed to be on board with that idea.

But then again, I have wanted Moore re-signed back when everybody was still dreaming of Clausen saving the franchise.

That may be a pretty big IF.

Hope he does get his head on right. I may not want him to be a Panther, but I'd like to see him succeed somewhere.

Actually he already got one in 2008. And who the fug cares if he is? The guy's been a consistent winner as a starter for the past two years!

That's all anyone should care about, when it comes to an off-season QB. We're not building our team around these guys. We're just going to try and make a run with them till we find a proper replacement.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
