My vote for who we should take #1, Patrick Peterson

We can further look at the issue when we actually need a replacement for Steve. Richard Marshall will be gone, and Gamble is getting old AND may not even be around next season. Peterson is smart. Gettis and LaFell, in my opinion, are steals from the last draft. They put up numbers that were close to Steve's, by only starting half the time. Imagine what they could do with a QB. People are underrating our WR core as it is.

DT, OL, CB are our positions of concern for the draft. A vet QB in FA would also be smart.

TBH I'd be OK having something like the Giants do at WR. No real dominating true #1 WR but three very good ones with different skillsets allowing you to abuse certain matchups and go with the hot hand from game to game.

Gettis with the deep balls, LaFell as the possession receiver, and someone quick in the slot.

Great setup for whenever Steve is done.

That time is now.

Unless of course you think we will ever again have an opportunity for us to draft a WR with our first draft pick any time over the next 100 years right after a season in which we had the WORST PASSING OFFENSE in the league!

I completely agree with you on this. Being a LSU fan I love watching him play. He is a once in a generation player as far as his size, speed, and strength at the CB position.

If we can manage to get him with the first, and get Tyrod Taylor down the line, I would be 100% pleased with the draft.

Do you honestly believe we had the worst passing offense in the league because of a weak receiving core???

No, I never said that. But if you want to deny that we have been searching for a true #2 receiver for the past decade, you are living in a different world.

We've been searching for so long our #1 is now ready to be a #2 and here we have one staring us in the face, yet we pick defense?

Ryan Broyles will most likely be there in the middle of the 2nd (where we can easily move up for our 3rd and 4th) and should be a huge steal. Also adding a big playmaking TE like Rudolph that I mentioned would help a TON. Get our line healthy, vet QB, new coaches and scheme and this offense will look infinitely better.

That only works for the Mannings and Tom Brady! I'd be all for it with Luck behind center. But now?

No Mannings or Brady in the draft that I can see, or even close. Maybe we'll get Luck next year. It's a process.

Using our #1 pick on a WR would be a waste. It is NOT what we need. Yes, it would be an upgrade, but we could theoretically upgrade on ANY position right now by using a #1 on it. We could take a safety and it'd be an upgrade, a defensive end and it'd be an upgrade, or a punter and it'd be an upgrade. But we don't need a simple upgrade with the #1. We need the highest upgrade possible. DT, CB, O-Line, vet QB, etc.

Dude I get that you love Smith, but please stop saying that. Smith is on the down slope and final years of his career as an impact player. Stop fooling yourself that we do not need a replacement, and that we don't need it now. WE DO!
