McShay Says Gabbert is a Possibility for Us Now, as Well as Fairley or Bowers

Depending on where you look Mallet, Newton and Gabbert are all rated as the number one QB. No one really knows who the teams will actually rate as the #1 now that Luck's gone.

I have seen no one rate Newton as #1 and not seen Mallett that high in a while.

have you seen Gabbert play more than a few games?

And where would Gabbert have been taken last year? My guess is the second round, after Clausen.

He may have been taken before him actually, and before The Golden Calf of Bristol. hard to tell for sure. He's been on the list of top QBs for most of this season on a lot of analysists boards

Ive actualy seen gabbert play about 4 times this season, idk why or how. He really does look good to me. He has a strong ass arm and makes pretty good decisions, he didnt have the best wrs and not much of a running game from what i watched and he seems clutch. That said, I dont think hes a number 1 pick just bc we need a qb. I would take bowers or peterson, fairly is nasty but hes a hold out and a few dwis and fines waiting to happen, not something we want to deal with, think kris jenkins times ten as a rookie. and all this black qb bullshit... uh JAMARCUS RUSSEL WAS A NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK enough said, and the next time that dumbass dragon fist wtf ever his name is guy types since instead of SENSE im gonna tattoo the word on his forhead

that is all

Cam Newton might lose us plenty of games next year, but when he does get it all figured out he will win big for somebody. How many times have you seen Rotlesberger or whatever get hit and still stand there and make the play.Cam is quicker and stronger ,Maybe even smarter, considering all the wise off the field moves he has made recently.

i do expect him to lose plenty of games next year if he starts too soon, but i think (if groomed right) he can be great, but if he starts for us next year, i could see us at 3 and 13 or at best winning 5 games and possibly fighting for the number one spot again

Well, many people on this message board thinks he's number one in this draft, As for Gabbert, i havent seen him play much honestly and that's my issue with him. I think Mallett reminds me of a slower Jay Cutler, personally, i like Locker the best, but no one will agree with me there.

I see a lot of the debate is whether whoever we pick is worth taking as a #1 overall pick. As I mentioned in other threads, there is no consensus match for us at #1 like there has been for the teams who have picked for, say the last 3-5 years.

Our position of need (QB) doesn't have a guy worth taking with that pick, which sucks, so to me the most logical thing to do is trade down regardless. Either take a QB lower or another guy - as I suggested Green, Fairley, Peterson, etc., and pick up some picks as we do so, getting that 2nd rounder back would be huge. Problem with this is, I'm not sure anyone else feels there's a overwhelming talent that would make them want to move to #1 as well, so we may be stuck with it.

I really think Locker is gonna be a 2nd rounder, with a very slim outside chance of getting into the late 1st round, but that's who I would target with the 2nd pick.
