A lot of mock drafts are saying we take:

Da'Quan Bowers/ Defensive End. But is he BPA? I mean really, I look at this draft with little value now that Luck is gone. Is he #1 pick worthy? Everette Brown is a bust (please present evidence that suggests otherwise). Charles Johnson is a beast and could use someone on the other side to complement him. Brayton is a solid plug in, not good and not bad. We can sure up the DT position in Free Agency and/or a late round draft pick.

Is ANYONE #1 Pick worthy? None of the QB's are, but do we reach? None of the QB's are "the sure thing". They are just players on the rise with "potential". I wouldn't mind a QB, but if we draft one every season with our 1st pick then we will end up sitting back at #1 the following season.

I would like AJ Green based off the fact we don't have a "true #1" anymore. Smith is getting older and might want out (all evidence leads to that). Gettis and LaFell have potential to be really solid, we are yet to see what Edwards can do. Spending 3 picks on WR's last season and getting rid of a highly valuable #33 overall. Do you take another WR?

I wouldn't take Peterson at #1 overall. You can fill the void in Free Agency/Trades/late round picks/etc. I would consider taking him if we traded down though (highly unlikely considering there is almost no one worth the #1 overall, no trade value).

Nick Fairley could give us some young talent at DT. But I honestly think you can fill this hole in Free Agency/Late round draft pick.

I also know this is the 10,000th thread about such a topic.

Thoughts?

actually someone just posted evidence on why Brown isn't a bust.. don't feel like searching it though, but of the guys that came out with him he's doing pretty well comparatively..QUOTE]

I've seen flashes from him, and even some solid plays by him. But him not ever on the field (and when he was, being invisible) really put up some question marks for me. I think he deserves 1 more season of judgement with a coach who can do something with the defense (i.e Rivera).

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
