Did anyone else notice Newton basically quit in the 4th. He wanted nothing to do with the ball. Handed it off almost every time, didn't even try to read the option. And under pressure he got rid of it to avoid getting hit. He was definitely hurting. Any idea what the injury was?

They were holding on to the lead, They ran the ball to take time off the clock. Newton had the right mind to throw the ball away because he was trying to avoid a turnover. When your winning a game you can't turn over the ball and you must take time off the clock whats so wrong about that?

People angry me with the nonsense they say about Newton.

Come on guys quit it with the Cam Newton BS, he just won a national championship and made clutch plays, give the guy some credit.

sorry, but they can't. When people kept saying that Newton should be the number one overall pick and sounded like he is going to be great, they have to point out his faults and i admit i am one of them, i agree, they had had good game and Newton won the National title, but honestly, he didnt really make many clutch players, that was Dyer, if he was clutch, he doesnt fumble that ball.

They cant. And you guys know why. They have to nitpick by nature. Wont even let that man have one night to shine. The hate is strong baby. I love it!!! ;)

NO, this is just us saying he's NOT worth the top pick and it's NOT hate, it's honesty

Probably just an accumulation of all the hits he took.

He'll get hit a lot harder than that in the NFL though.

Nothing should be taken away from his or Auburn's play today. Hats off to their team. But he also proved he isn't a starting NFL QB either....it happens.

i agree, hats off to the team and Newton for the win, but when it comes to Newton, he's just not worth the number one overall pick like many thought.

Think back though: What was it that allowed Oregon to tie the score?

He did make a good amount of clutch passes, he also ran plenty of times to get a 1st down. He did fumble the ball one time which isn't that bad considering he ran for 22 times and threw 34 times, thats 56 plays where he had to carry the ball in his hands 1 fumble out of 56 plays isn't that bad.

Is he #1 overall pick worthy? No but he will be a 1st round pick and is a great player.

Auburn played a horrible game and still won, they looked like they tried to lose.

Dropped passes, overthrown passes, dropped INT's, missed assignments.

So how overrated is Oregon if they lose a game like this?

I knew Auburn would win but wow.

And BTW if you weren't paying attention, Newton was clearly hurt/shaken up, which is why he was looking so sluggish in the 4th.

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
