I'm just wondering if Fairley pans out to be like Sapp and Green pans out to be the equvalient to Randy Moss as we are now who would people want us to pick. Im not talking about this guy could be a bust or that guy might not blah blah at their best who should we go after for our current team???

depends.. our defense was 12th overall while on the field longer than any other defense (close enough to make that statement)

since we had no spectacular DT's then, and there are more FA DT's by far compared to WR FAs... why wouldn't you take Green?

and FFS, we don't need to trade Smitty unless we are offered a 2nd.. or two 3rds.. (it makes no sense to take away talent from an already bad offense)

Pick up Orton and we have a QB for next couple years until we address the issue..

BTW, Johnson has never played in a playoff game, while Sapp has won a Superbowl.

how is that relevant?

I agree with that, but Green isn't close to Andre IMO, I say Fairley all day.

and Fairley ain't no Sapp.. that is not the point of this thread.. try again. ;)

I can see your point but you have to think a tenacious d gives your offense chance after chance ie Mark S last year. Going from 12 to 3 or 4 with failey and a FA could be just what we need. Otah's return boost our running game back to atleast top six. I don't know because a Johnson type with what we have could be deadly in so many different ways just trying to get some different view points.

Yea I'm not saying they are or will be just wondering for the current state of our team in a very optimistic view what pick would help us out the most if both could reach elite levels.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
