Perhaps I'm naive, but Gantt can go to hell

Maybe it's because I don't live in Charlotte, or the fact that I don't necessarily get into the history or leanings of sports writers as much as I could, but yesterday (or possibly Monday) I heard Darin Gantt say on 99.9, The Fan, that frankly he didn't care whether the Panthers win or lose. Maybe it's just me being naive or idealistic, but I would think that he would want us to win.

Gantt isn't a fan of the Panthers. No journalist is supposed to be a fan of the team that the cover. They're supposed to love the the story, the game, not a special team or player.

Gantt is just a guy who outwardly shows this more than other sports journalists.

Well, I didn't get that newsflash. Of course I didn't take sports journalism. I can see the not playing favorites to a player part, but to actually say that you don't care whether the team that you cover wins or loses is sports sacrilege .

He can keep that little tidbit to himself.

Boy, it would be nice if all of the media could be like that.

I find him amusing. You gotta roll with it, so what he makes fun of us? I would rather him be critical then someone be a huge panther fan and bring me everythings gonna be alright lies every day. Its his job, he doesn't have to like the team hes required to cover. Imagine one of us having to cover the Patriots or Saints, you'd do it for the pay but that doesn't mean you enjoy the team.

See I wouldn't have a problem with Gnatt or any other reporter saying they don't care whether we win or lose, or anything like that, but I have a problem with them not caring about the team, and still asking these softball questions to coaches and ownership. If you're gonna be all "journalistic" ask some real questions and don't just make snide comments on the twatter webs.

this is the exact opposite of what every Panther fan thought about Gantt 1-2 years ago...

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
