Not saying it's a reason. My reasons are that he's a dirty, immature, out of shape man-child who has bust practically stamped on his forehead. This is more a joke than anything.

immature, out of shape? Where did you get this from?

Have you even read any of his scouting reports? Imagine Julius Peppers, only not nearly as athletic and lazy. That's Fairley; he won't make it in the NFL. I just hope we aren't stupid enough to take a chance on him because DT is our "biggest need."

Our biggest need is to NOT miss on this 1st overall draft pick.

Some are worried about whether Fairley is a one-year wonder given the gigantic leap he took from 2009 to 2010. His reportedly questionable work ethic is reason for pause, as well, especially at a position that requires a nonstop motor. Also, while NFL coaches will surely appreciate his passion, Fairley's quick temper and penchant for undisciplined penalties will need to be reined in by whoever coaches him.

In 2010, Fairley worked hard in his first year as a full-time starter. But some question his effort on a play-to-play basis and his ability to stack and shed blocks. MTD readers don't seem to think he should be Carolina's choice with the first overall pick in the draft.

The biggest question mark about Fairley is his character, though. He has a propensity to take dumb penalties and has gained a reputation as a dirty player. With Roger Goodell dishing out fines like Rajon Rondo dishes out assists, Fairley will need to clean up his act on the field to avoid fines and possibly a suspension.

There are also some questions about his work ethic and if he is serious about being the no. 1 pick, he's going to need to show up to his pro day in great shape.

Unlike Newton, Fairley can step in next season and make an instant impact for whoever drafts him. His talents are undeniable. Whether or not he ends up making it in the league will come down to him. Fairley should be a Pro Bowler for the next decade if he works hard enough and doesn't get caught up with off-field issues.

There have been plenty of players as talented as Fairley failing in the NFL because of their lacking work ethic. If he takes the NFL for granted and thinks that he can just show up and dominate, his career will be a disappointment.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
