Did we just...

Agreed, Cavscout.

As I said in another post, I've never been sold on McDermott ever since he became DC in Philly and started getting hyped. I hope I'm wrong about him.

However, he is definitely more aggressive than anything we've had this millennium, and with Rivera overseeing the defense, it would be hard for the 2 of them to eff it up. I don't know much about Chudzinski but anything is an improvement over Davidson.

Overall, I'm happy. My biggest concern is whether the new ST coach is as good as the one we had this year.

mcdermott didnt get a fair chance in philly. his players were awful so usually his schemes didnt work.

plus with rivera, i doubt he will have full control of the defense.

I agree. I think eagle fans wanted someone's head on a spike after the loss to the packers...they are frustrated in Philly and it seems they really want Andy Reid to go....along with McDermott...at least that is my perspective from living in Bethlehem and hearing Eagles fans still pissed about that game.

So far it's a 100% better than it was last year

McDermott > Meeks

Meeks > Gilhammer

Chudzinski > Davidson

I like Rivera's aggresive style and I think that you see that in the philosophies of these coaches:hurray:

Right now, Meeks is replaceing two guys: Mike Gillhammer and Ron Miluis.

From what I've seen. most teams have one secondary coach, not two. I think the decision to have a separate "safeties coach" may have had as much to do with Fox wanting to have a spot for his guy (Gillhammer) but that's just my guess.

We'll see whether they hire a second DB coach this season. Based on it being Meeks right now, I'm guessing not.

Yeah. The Eagles LB core was quite depleted at times this year which greatly affects defensive performance especially in the red zone. Not to mention Samuel was battling injuries throughout the year

i think mcdermmott has a great defensive mind and has learned from the best, i just don't think he was ready to be cut loose as a DC in philly the way he was. he still has some growing up and maturing to do as a coach. he is incredibly agressive with his playcalling, probably too much. i think that, along with the lack of talent on his defense was the problem there. he still needs a mentor and he will have that in rivera who will also be able to help mcdermmott be more structured in his defensive scheme and playcalling. he will also have a more talented cast of players here.

    • From my what I have seen the overwhelming majority of people who are considering the notion a possibility don't really want to see it happen but are considering so for a number of reasons. Most importantly availability. Secondly even when he plays the last few seasons he has been red hot or ice cold. Then there is the subject of his defense which to say the least leaves a lot to be desired. Then there is the image of Ball inactive laughing it up on the sideline (while our team was getting the doors blown off) with previous busts who are now relegated to hanging on by a thread in the g league. I think we should be able to recognize with the team going out of their way to put a very strong emphasis on culture and leadership with the conclusion of this years draft that they expect LaMelo to lead the way this upcoming season and that begins with making significant strides and trending in a positive direction in the aforementioned aspects above. It just has to happen.
    • Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
