Matt Moore: I would love to stay in Carolina

LOL...you better wait for your boys to jump in this thread because you are seriously behind. Most people, not just me, are thinking along the same lines as I am.

Please, tell me how 99% of the free agents are better than Moore, I'd love to hear it.

I would take 99% of the people on this list over Moore.

At least some of them are A) Proven B) Have Potential C) Can at least manage a game without turning the ball over 3 times in the red zone.

Clausen's isn't appreciably better, and Moore actually looked pretty good in the five games at the end of 2009.

I have no idea if Moore is better than he showed last year, but since we take four QBs to camp anyway and he'd be cheap, I see no reason not to at least check out what he'd look like being coached by someone other than Rip Scherer.

I would rather snag a veteran, sign a younger guy with some promise, and keep Clausen over a 5 year pro who we know can't play.

No sense in keeping him around just because he's been here anymore.

New era, time to move on.

No more personal ties to players just because. If they can't play, and have no future, then they have no reason to be here.

People here have grown so accustomed to terrible QB play that Moore's terrible performance looks good to them.

Pretty impressive stuff there, Moore!

u really think Billy Volek, and any other scrub out there is better? lol

If there is someone better I would be all for it but I think its a bad idea for us to not at least bring him back to compete.

The problem with Moore is that he'll show well in camp again and win the starting job, then opening day will come and he'll crap the bed again.

I have nothing personally against Moore, but I think he's a tease.

+1 on this. He admitted that being the starter for meaningful games was too much pressure for him last year...

We've got young guys. Definitely don't need another one of those.

And it's a pretty big reach to say we "know Moore can't play". He played pretty well prior to last year.

Rivera isn't judging Clausen entirely on last season. Why should he judge Moore that way?

It's funny that people base Moore's career off of one game when he had no help. They have the shortest memory but only because it favors their opinion of a certain player then try to rationalize it by saying he craps the bed under pressure because it fits in while ignoring all other times he's played under pressure. They have no real arguments so they keep referring to one time and ignoring the big picture while most people who are rational can see the benefits of having him in camp.

    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
    • They will still be a playoff team but they aren't contenders anymore IMO. They won't be able to spend like they have when they went to a SB and proved he couldn't carry a win at that level with a really good team around him. Now he is going to have to do it with less to spend around him. They just locked in to being a playoff bound team that's going to be a known speed bump for whoever will represent the NFC in the SB.
    • Hmm. I think he'll live up to it. Last year, about half of his team was on IR it seems, at one time or another. Year before, Super Bowl appearance. Year before that, playoff run after being third on the depth chart and being pressed into service. Is he one of the greatest in the game right now? Nope. No chance of that. Is he in the top 10 going into next season? Pretty good chance of that.  Would 20 or more teams in this league love to have the guy as their starting QB. Most likely so. He's a good QB who can implement his coach's game plan to a T and has both the confidence of and confidence in his teammates. That'll take you a long way in this league if you've got the right cast around you, and he does.
