SACRAMENTO, Calif (AP)—Stephen Jackson scored 21 points and Kwame Brown had a season-high 18 rebounds to lead the Charlotte Bobcats to a 94-89 win over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.

The win was the third in four games for the Bobcats, who are 9-6 since Paul Silas was named interim head coach on Dec. 22 replacing Larry Brown.

Brown had 13 points and his 18 rebounds were one short of his career high, which came as a Washington Wizards in a March 17, 2004 victory over the Kings.

Gerald Wallace scored 19 points and D.J. Augustin added 16 for the Bobcats.

It was the first of six road games for Charlotte. The Bobcats will face only one team with a winning record during their longest road trip of the season that concludes Feb. 2 in Detroit.

The Bobcats relied on Jackson and Brown to maintain a comfortable lead in the third quarter. Jackson scored nine points and Brown was active on the boards, getting 11 rebounds in helping Charlotte take a 76-67 lead into the fourth.

Wallace had 10 of his 13 points in the second quarter when the Bobcats built a double digit lead and went into halftime with a 52-42 advantage. Evans scored nine points for the Kings, who shot 32 percent in the opening half.

Notes: Charlotte forward Eduardo Najera came off the bench and had three fouls in five first quarter minutes. He finished with five fouls in 15 minutes. … Bobcats owner Michael Jordan and general manager Rod Higgins occupied courtside seats alongside the team’s bench. … Wallace, who was drafted by the Kings in 2001 and played three seasons in Sacramento, averaged 29.5 points in the previous four games against the Kings.

Best play of the game was Jax just throwing the ball over everyone out of bounds at the end, haha.

I had to rewatch that play, just shaking my head. Jackson was trying to make sure he got to the foul line, but they weren't going to foul him, they had him trapped. He had a pass out of it earlier to a man on the opposite corner who was all by himself, but he held on thinking he would go to the line. It's very difficult for him to make a pass that is not ill-advised or badly telegraphed. He'd much rather launch it instead.

Great game Kwame. It's been fun watching this guy get better and tougher every game. Did anyone else catch his little spat with DJ about coming back to the ball when the inbounds pass was stolen by Cousins and Kwame then had to foul? They were yapping back and forth, pretty funny. "Come back to the ball, man." "I did come back to the ball, you gotta wait."

i can imagine the conversation between bobcats players after Jackson threw the ball away...

Jackson - "WTF Gerald, why didn't you come get the ball?"

Wallace- "You're not the point guard, why do you even have the ball"

Augustin - "He's got a point Jack"

Jackson - "What the fug you lookin' at, ref?"

Anyway, it was a great game. Good win to start the road trip and gives us a solid game lead over IND.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
