Anyone else feel PP would be "safest" pick?

Yea it doesn't address a need, but when DT's bust their knee caps on every other defensive snap and almost every defensive end ever drafted looks like they aren't playing with a motor half the time to the average fan (when the average fan completely ignores the fact that a team gameplans to put everything on the opposite side of the field of said defensive lineman).

Doesn't it feel like Patrick Peterson is the safe pick? Not only does he look the part, but he has been the part. I dunno, I just have a feeling in 3 years we will look back and see only 2 names we recognize and it will be Peterson and Von Miller.

I want the closest thing to a sure thing that we can get with the #1 pick. I'm kinda on the edge of the wagon with PP right now, but I'm not jumping on anybody's wagon 100% until after the combine.

That said, a lot of the names mentioned have "potential" bust written all over them.

Again - give me somebody closer to a sure thing and not a "he could be great, but there are a lot of question marks."

CB is ususally the safest position in general, but RARELY differnece makers. Unless you think PP is in the same class as Revis, Bailey or Sanders, you can get a starting CB on the first day without payng him like the prior mentioned guys. IMO, while he's good, PP couldn't hold those guy's jock straps.

in the past decade, how many CBs have been drafted in the top 5?

ain't nothing safe about picking a corner.

No theres not, I wish there was a Suh or McCoy but no such prospect is there. I think the hole in our secondary is much bigger than our wr woes. Pick a receiver/returner in the 4th or something

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
