It actually isn't that dumb.

Considering Moore was the only QB on the roster, we likely would have signed a vet and that vet would have been better than Jimmy.

So if/when Moore gets hurt, assuming that still happens, the vet comes in and players better than poo and we win a couple games here and there.

We, as in the Panthers, would draft Clausen at #1 was the question.

The answer was that without him this year, we wouldn't be drafting #1.

In all likelihood, we'd find a way to trade up into the second, draft him there because he'd fall again, and then be drafting #1 overall next year where we could get Luck.

I said all that before my avatar came to be. I only put it on there to make some people angry after I said that Smith likes Moore more than Clausen, which is obvious to anyone with half a brain. I stole the avatar from someone on a different board.

Ahh...I'm assuming that Moore, who was our starting QB and on the roster, would have been starting in Clausen's stead, but you're not assuming that some random, unknown QB would have been starting because our aggressive coach and FO would have gone out to get him...where ever he happens to be. Maybe the next Brady is out there bagging groceries just waiting for us to come hire him.

Lol so you can assume that Moore wouldn't have gotten injured if we didn't draft Clausen AND you can assume that he would have continued to play that poor, but I can't assume that we would have picked up a backup without Clausen on the roster leaving us with only Moore and Pike? Thinking we would pick up a QB since without Clausen we would have had only 2 QBs is dumb? Or thinking another QB could win more than 1 game out of ten is dumb? Really?

Had Clausen returned to school, he would have been the top QB in this year's class. Figure that the Irish would have also gone 8-5 just like they did, and the hype would have been even greater (lost his receivers, new coach, etc...). That's not a big leap, as they didn't have spectacular play from that position this past year.

now it's a question if someone uses a first rounder on him and he's more physically gifted than Clausen

I'm glad someone understands logic. Guess I didn't get the memo that without Clausen we would have went into the season with just Moore and Pike.
