Something I've Noticed on the Road

Captroop

Recommended Posts

On Saturday, I kinda crashed up my car a little bit. There was a god-fosaken trailer in the parking space behind me, and it didn't show up in the rear view mirror. So I'm driving around with a completely dented in bumper cover. [WHO THE FUG LEAVES A TRAILER IN A PARKING SPACE AT A STRIP MALL!!! WHO?!]

Anyway, for the past two days, on the road, I've noticed people are fuggin' with me a lot. They're cutting me off, zipping around me, cutting in front of me at red lights. Mainly, people are riding my ass, maybe two feet away from my rear fender, they never did that before. I finally had to brake-check one guy and then gun it through an intersection, leaving him caught at the red light (the look on his face almost made it worth it). I'm driving the exact same way, at the exact same speeds on the exact same roads, and now people act totally different around me.

And now I'm wondering, is it because of the damage? Do people see a wounded car and just assume I'm a lousy driver? Maybe assholes see body damage and subconsciously associate me with the people they fug with on a daily basis. It's a pretty interesting phenomenon.

Maybe they are trying to lure you into a wreck so they can get a payday. It is apparent that you have prior crash(es) so it would be an easy sell to the cop and their insurance company.

At least that's what I am doing.

The next time you leave me stuck at a red light, I'm gonna.....

weird.....I have dents on my car too, but I drive like an asshole.

Everyone drives too slowly in the left lane, blabs on their cell phones and talks like idiots, or they are just so fuging stupid they aren't paying attention.

Worse still are the people who are going straight in the right turn lane, so now I can't make my right turn on the red light. I want to put cigarettes out on those people.

Spend some time in D.C. The roads in Carolina will feel Southern Pines after that. You simply have to drive like an a-hole here, or your commute will be miserable. I was never an a-hole, but I flew under their radar before. Now I have a bullseye.

ahaha drivers in Charlotte drive me crazy. Some old dude in a Corvette tried to brake check me on 77N the other day. He underestimated me :)

Tommy_Boy_Ive_Got_Cat_Like_Speed_and_Reflexes-T-link.jpg

managed to flick him off and make him feel like an idiot in his car at the same time.

I have a lot of people do the little "no no no" finger to me in their rear view too. Look, there is a reason I'm riding ur ass. Get the fug out of the left lane.

THIS. drives me up the fuging wall. I cant stand it either. There is one light this always happens to me at in the mornings, so I look for cops, then cut through the gas station on the right.

I usually will try and nudge and have my signal on to see if they will move forward for me, because I try and do that for people. I feel bad if Im in your way of turning right, and its not like its going out of my way to move up so you can fit through.

The thing that really gets me here is waving when I let you in. This is the south dammit. Ill usually wave and yell your welcome and make sure they see me in their mirror.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
