People's main problem is the best QBs in this draft would be the 5-9 QBs in the next draft, give or take.

Do you see the point?

Whether you agree or not is not as important as you seeing the other vantage point.

I 1,000,000% disagree with that. Cam Newton would likely be a top three QB no matter what draft he went in. Even if the talking heads didn't have him as high he would have been drafted way high no matter who was in this draft.

Considering 6 teams (that we know of) has him the number 1 overall player (not QB, player) in this draft I feel comfortable saying that.

BTW one of the main reasons that Cam's stock is soaring with guys like Mel Kiper, is because these guys are talking to scouts and GM's who are giving super high feedback.

I see their point, but I think that their view is skewed from what it normally would be because of Andrew Luck. Hypothetically, if Andrew Luck never existed, then I think people would have no problem with Cam Newton being the first overall pick.

That's a fair assessment but Barkley is also a big prototypical passer that many teams might like more than Newton as well.

I wouldn't expect anything less out of you. You are a Cam fan, we get it. Chill out till the combine.

So are at least 6 NFL teams.

And I am not a Cam Newton fan I am a Panthers fan. I just strongly believe he should be our pick. And every bogus stupid reason that has been given to not pick him has been debunked or overstated.

With the exception of the character stuff.

You are using the personal media workout saying that these reasons have been debunked which is not true at all. Neither has the offensive philosophy, his ability to read a defense, his ability to take drops and stay in the pocket, his ability to shift his weight from back to front quicker, etc.

None have been bebunked. If they were all debunked and no one had questions about him, wouldn't he be #1 on more boards than just 6?

I is "att least 6" which means it could be more.

I don't want a dude who was caught with a stolen lap top, caught cheating at college (several times), issued 12 traffic citations in 2 years and investigated by the SEC and NCAA in a pay for play scheme.

Criminal in training, no thank you.

either trolling or narrow minded.

either way it's pretty petty and weak.

you don't want newton discussed until after the combine. chill out until then.

if you don't like people saying positive things about newton then stay out of those threads. if you don't want any discussion about him, quit discussing him and avoid the subject.

it's easy enough for you to do unless you are obsessed with him for some reason.

if you don't think anything should be talked about until the combine then quit talking about him. it's not hurting you that there are still conversations about him going on.

no one is going to talk about someone or not talk about someone because of you. you are irrelevant and insignificant until you quit posting this same stuff over and over (and maybe for a good while after that).

JOAT trolling?
it's one or the other.

he doesn't want us to draft a QB. he's made it abundantly clear that they would be dumb for doing so....yet he keeps posting the same crap over and over. he's been doing that for months. hasn't really had anything worth contributing so he just keeps on being a broken record.

he thinks that some kid making mistakes a few years ago, pretty minor mistakes at that in the whole scheme of things along with allegations that have never been proven to be true makes someone a criminal in training...even though he has kept his nose clean since leaving florida.

either he's wanting to piss people off with that pettiness (aka trolling) or he's being really petty.

also seems pretty funny that he is baiting KT. JOAT has been power tripping for a long time so it's not out of the ordinary for him to pull that crap. he's looking for someone to ban.

......blah blah blah....

It's not so much the fact that people are discussing him because he's very interesting, but the whole idea that anything not 100% positive about him that is said is considered blasphemy is ridiculous. Those people saying "he's debunked" everything negative about him before the combine even starts? Because some media workout? Come on.

Other people are discussing Cam in a great way, talking about pros and cons, even the Cam nuthuggers can sometimes see how there could be a negative about him and admit that it will be explored, which is fine, but then others only want great things said about him and it's silly.

So people need to allow positive remarks and opinions about Newton, but no one is allowed to speak against him? Seems a bit hypocritical.

Petty? Newton's character concerns are on everyone's radar, his background will be checked very thoroughly- it's a concern for everyone, that's why it's constantly brought up and not just by me.

There's nothing pety about his pattern of behavior. If it was one incident that would be petty, but he showing a penchant for making bad decisions off the field.

I didn't bait KT, didn't need to. He's always ready to travel that road and the pavement came out from under him.

    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
