NFL Exec Mike North Talks League’s 2025 Schedule Release with Rich Eisen

Recommended Posts

really good interview that gives some insight into their decision making process in making up the schedules and the issues they run into with so many people broadcasting games now. also some interesting discussion on what they have going on and where they might be heading in the international games. vikings have 2 of them, btw. we might be seeing more of that.

If he doesn’t say it’s about money first and foremost then it doesn’t really matter what else he says. The international games are not good for the players or teams or overall product as far as quality of game. Same for Thursday night games. And they clearly start the scheduling process by looking at which games/teams/storylines they can make the most money on, then the rest of the schedule just gets shoehorned in from there.

The Vikings with back to back international games is fascinating. Their bodies will certainly acclimate to the time difference in a two week window, then they come back to a bye week.

That said, if they stumble after two weeks in a row abroad, it could really impact the league's decision making on this in the future. It's not even remotely a big enough sample for a true study, but I think you'll see uproar from owners if this doesn't go well. And as someone who attends every home game, I personally hope it doesn't go well.

he pretty much talks about all that. worth watching. there is a balancing game they have to play and he talks about the decision making process and the issues they run into figuring it all out.

they have a lot of mouths to feed is what he says. everyone wants their prime time high profile games to broadcast.

    • Vegas is unfortunately fine, the LTIR pool isnt reflected in that when Pietelgrinos LTIR will more than cover it
    • 1, Sanders absolutely is going to blow up, period end of story.  I would bet just about anything on that.     2. Wallace looked completely lost at times and his instincts didnt look fluid.  Could he break out, sure but I think he is more of a player that gets marginally better season after season not just turn into a full blown stud in year 2.  IE Shaq T   3.  Mayes is who he is, a grinder that seems to handle whatever position he plays with functionality.  He will probably never be elite and he probably will never out right suck.  Just more consistent and decent/solid play.   remember he was straight cut after last years training camp so something was going on between him and the staff
    • I honestly do think we will land him, Ovi has maybe one more year, the caps are probably a board line wild card team. We have more money and weather or not he picks us we are a far better team than Washington.    If Elhers signs I think we should bump Jarvis to center. Elhers-Aho-Svechnikov Hall-Jarvis-Stankoven Carrier-Staal-Martinook  Robinson-Jankowski-Blake  Nadeu* (I think if he isnt used as a trade he will be displacing someone on the roster hes a top 6 talent)   Slavin-Chatfield Miller- Burns***? Nikishin-Walker   Although I think we over paid I've come around to the miller acquisition, if we can bring Burns back short term this us a lot of SIZE speed and Length in the D core, if there was anything painfully obvious about playing Florida it was that outside of Slavin/Nikishin/Burns the other 3 were getting out muscled and giving up the middle.    The roster above I believe can at a minimum take Florida 7 games.
