Wilmington hockey?

Saw this on the news. Michael Vollman plays pro hockey in Switzerland, wants to build an arena and bring minor league hockey here.

That would be awesome. Since moving to the Wilmington area from Raleigh a few years ago, I have really missed going to the games.

I would be an immediate season ticket holder of WLM got a team

I would go.  I moved back last year and wish we had a legit minor league baseball team or something.  The summer league thing is alright.

I loved the Waves and the Roosters. Sharks were fun on 50 cent night.

Especially with no other major sports in the area other than UNCW basketball and soccer.

It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive just to catch a collegiate football game.

If this new arena were built I would hope it also includes an Adult League - I would join up and time allowing would be more than happy to help coach some youth teams.

1.5 hour from Myrtle beach and Coastal Carolina.  Great football and elite college baseball

Sunbelt. Along with App State.  Also, ECU is about an 1.5 hours away from Wilmington.  Football is down but dang their tailgates are amazing

ECU baseball is like a farm team for the transfer portal but good players go through there too.  Coastal is definitely better though.

ECU football was good when I was a kid.  Relatively speaking.  It’s been a wasteland for a while.

Coastal has proved to be one of the best. Easily. Fun to watch them mullets. And I am a Mountaineer too.

ECU football is in the All-American Conference (AAC). About 45 minutes from me. I go every other year when Navy comes to Greenville and kicks their ass.

But, yes, I have several friends who are huge ECU boosters and have tailgate spots right outside the gate and, it is an event. ECU football is going to die a slow, painful death thanks to the transfer portal and NIL, and trying to recruit and compete with UNC, Duke, and NC State.

App is in the same boat unfortunately. However, app and ECU will always find a way to beat one of the three in the triangle!

Per Google Maps ECU is 2.5 hours away...I considered them but said if I'm driving 2 1/2 hours might as well go to Raleigh.
