Speaking of Love and those final wins over K, Caleb Love is a feature of two of my all-time favorite UNC basketball photos

From the final game in Cameron:

From the Final Four win:

Love struggled with consistency (a recurring theme under Hubert Davis) but man, he had one helluva knack for being at his best in big games and big moments.

That night after the Final Four is a complete blur on Bourbon Street.

Didn't Love turn around and beat Duke again the next year as a transfer at Arizona?

Caleb Wilson has looked uninterested this game.

Several times has gotten matched up on the block vs a guard on a switch and doesn't command the ball or post up strong enough.

Also Carolina getting crushed on the offensive glass.  As the most athletic kid on the floor Caleb Wilson should be asserting himself on the glass.

Gonna be a tight finish to the game.

He is already counting that NBA payday coming.

I don't think that's it.  I think it's poor coaching and not having someone on the staff that can get him fired up and instill that "Rasheed" in him.  That's honestly who he could be if he was pushed.

Sad / glad part of Caleb is he looked absolutely disinterested today, and he scored 20 points.  If they can figure out how to make him motivated, he is the best player in America, with respect to Boozer.

Not sure what the context of your post is, but assuming it's telling me to fug off because he played great down the stretch with some huge buckets late.  And that's fair, I agree.

But go back and watch the multiple possessions where he gets matched up with Mallory on the block after pick switches and tell me he's giving maximum effort on those plays. He's not.

Love the kid, not burying him by any means, without him we are 8-12.  But to get this team into the Elite 8 or beyond, Caleb has to be absolutely dominant and demand / earn the ball in those situations.

Hopefully someone on the staff will light a fire under his ass and push him to be what he can be.

    • Lol. Yeah. First of all, some people here had it in for him because they wanted McConkey. They were down on him from the start. As soon as he falls short they got their knives out. Don’t y’all deny it.   But he has given them ammunition with his miscues, good lord not making that catch in Philedelphia for the TD got him fried.    I think some of that got nasty because Bryce defenders need to place blame elsewhere. Talk down about his weapons. There is just bias against him from different factions. Different quarters.    He isn’t helping himself much either, there was no real redemption on the field. Not of the magnitude he needed to produce. At the same time he has for sure been open and I ha en’t seen them use him the way I thought they were going to. So I don’t know what to think think about it really.    My thing is, we have a HC and OC that has their foundation built on WR coaching. That morphed into QB coaching and whispering, if you will. But these fugers know WRs, supposedly. I don’t know how much they have worked with him. I don’t know how much extra he has put in either. I do suspect Bryce Young has gotten most of their attention and they haven’t put XL as a priority project.    Young needed the attention, I get that. I’d like to see them take him on as a real priority before giving up on him. Where we are now is he got his notice that he isn’t good enough. Need to see if that got through to him, maybe he bears down and focuses.  Or maybe he can’t. I can’t defend his shitty play but I do see flashes of a guy that could be an asset and I would just like the staff to take one good last swing at bringing it out of him before they give up.
    • Just grab all 50 and release the ones who don't work out
    • @MHS831I liked your thinking  historically: ILB, S and TE are positions not heavily emphasized in the draft. If you could sign starters at each of those positions it would leave round one open to BPA which would hopefully be an edge, OT or to contradict myself ILB too
