The Draft Value Chart

I don't think you understood what people were telling you.

As there is no standout #1 player, then there is absolutely no need for anyone to trade into the #1 spot. As people aren't going to be actively interested in trading for the pick, then we would have to offer it at under market (or that chart) value. Hence why it is devalued.

Now our major problem is that of the top 5 players, each has the next at their position inside the top 12, so anyone who might be interested in the top Wr, Cb, Dt, De or Qb can easily just wait for the second best at that position, or trade into the 5-10 range to ensure they get one of them.

Considering that we would have to offer it at seriously under market value if we wanted to trade out of the top pick.

There is little to no chance of us trading down (won't rule it out, anything is possible) and to even tempt a trading partner we would have to be looking for a 2nd to mid round pick only depending on where the trading partner is coming from. Any possible trading partner will only come from inside the top 10, as anything higher than that would get better trade value by trading into the 5-10 range.

Long story short, there is no chance of picking up 3 picks in the first round and a half. Expecting that shows seriously limited appreciation of this whole process.

Here it is. I keep reading about how the Panthers wouldn't get anything for the #1 overall or how the pick would be de-valued if... The fact of the matter is this: the #1 overall can get you 3 picks in the first round and a half... if someone has those picks to begin with.

Just ask yourself, from another teams perpective, say the team with the 4th overall pick: are my first(#4), second(#36) and third round picks worth less than the #1 overall pick? I and anyone with half a brain say no.
