I went back and watched the Mallett PC, media is full of...

poo. They badgered him and he finally had enough. He told them 5x he was going to discuss that with each team and not at this media session. They kept on and on and on after he told them no and wanted to talk about the rest of the stuff.

He will be asked why he left the podium in his team meetings and he will tell them the truth and they will be fine with it.

He lost his cool. Part of the job is dealing with the press and maintaining professionalism. It may be overblown, but it will cause GM's to compare him to Ryan Leaf.

You know I have been kinda weighing if he was Ryan Leaf to be honest. I just dont know. Do I think there was a drug problem, yeah I do. Being in Oklahoma we get tons of that info from over there at UofA and yeah I think there WAS an issue last year.

From what I saw he was patient for a while with them till after the 5th different guy hammered him and no one would ask about anything else. Sure he needs to get better at that, but I am torn. I really can't blame him.

I will say because of Leaf you can bet there will be clauses in his contract for issues like that.

BTW did anyone see Cam interview him? It was actually pretty funny, they had a good time with it.

If the reporters got him flustered and unfocused, what do you think GM's are wondering about in regards to opposing players and defenses?

Honestly? all they see is 10" hands, 6'6 and can throw the ball out of the stadium. they will work on the rest. Come on Zod you know how this works.

He could be a STEAL!! Especially of the rumors about him are false. He can make throws right now that 50% of NFL QBs can't make. I like Mallett's abilities a lot.

The train wreck stuff was over the top IMO but it wasn't a smooth presser either.

nope the attitude may be a Red flag and I do have leaf concerns with him. From a pure football standpoint, has all the size, arm strength, touch, spiral etc you would ever want. When he gets rushed he freaks some so that needs work. But if this kid has an attitude issue then pass.

A few ears ago I'd be inclined to agree with you, but Jamarcus and VY not only busting out but flat out emberassing and wrecking images of their respective franchises may have a bigger overall effect on the premium of off field composure for NFL executives now. Those two not only screwed themselves, but seriously hurt the raiders and titans, and alienated coaches and fanbases alike. No other team in the NFL would want to go through that again. That and conjured images of Ryan Leaf will undoubtedly have a huge effect on Mallet's draft stock. The ball is in his court, and he's not handling it well at all.

I wasn't suggesting we take him. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I am on the Cam/Gabbert or no QB at all train.

If these red flags are false or overblown, he could be a great QB.

When I said trainwreck I was referring to his presser not his red flags.

Agree with Zod, if Joe Blow the blogger or reporter can get in his head what's Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Suh going to do?

difference is he couldnt just use his play in the presser to shut them up. hell chris johnson isnt the most well spoken guy but his play on the field is all he needs to shut people up.

the additude he supposedly displayed to one team with why he will succeed is an issue: cocky answers and a simple look at the stats...... weak sause. if thats it, The Golden Calf of Bristol should be racking up nfl records as a qb, cause in college thats what he did. dumbass i want more than i did it in college answer. why are you going to be a star? simple good answer:" i am going to put in even more time, work harder in the wieght room, and live in the film room to surpass what i did in college. i am going to out work everyone to maximize my tallent." but no he came off as an ass and a look at my stats.

as getting flustered for constant questions about drug use getting him to walk out, whoopie. if thats all fine, he isnt a public speaker he must be doomed like CJ. oh wait.

    • Every team does it's homework. More so than any fan.  Brooks, had he not been injured, would have been a first round talent.  I have zero problems with the team (Dan Morgan and company) drafting Brooks in the 2nd.  He is a fantastic talent.  As far as risk, this is the NFL.  Any and every player is exposed to the same brutality that the NFL is.  Despite Brooks latest setback, it doesn't cost the team much.  Our running back room is stacked.  Could they have drafted someone else? Sure. No promise that someone else would have made an impact last year.  Or this year.   When it's your job to do what Dan does, I pray you get it all right. Lord knows that there isn't a single GM that gets it all right.
    • Dang, we might not be able to create the same magic from last year!
    • If we were a solid winning organization most of us would have no problems with this selection. We would have had a capable starter in place to allow him to be eased into the rotation. If were told prior to the draft that he had been completely cleared health wise, we "probably" wouldn't have a ton of reservations about this selection. If we had picked this young man on Day 3 of the draft most of us would have no problems with this selection because we wouldn't have had to use draft capital to move up and get him. Unfortunately, none of the above were true 1)  We were a terrible team in 2023 and needed an immediate impact player. 2)  He was hurt near the the end of the 2023 NCAA season. We traded up to get him even though we knew he wasn't medically cleared to play in 2024. 3) When training camp started we were hearing stories that the knee wasn't ready. That alone should have raised some red flags. I personally would have red-shirted him in 2024 in order to have him ready for 2025. We had Chubba as our lead back and other guys to fill the #2 and #3 spots on the depth chart. There was no need to rush Brooks unto the field in 2024. Here's our draft history in the 2nd round between 2021 and 2024 2021 TMJ 2022 No draft choice. We picked Matt Corall in round 3 (#94) as our only Day 2 pick. 2023 Jonathan Mingo 2024 Jonathon Brooks. We have taken 4 skill players on Day 2 of the draft for the past 4 years who have contributed absolutely nothing to the offensive side of the football. 3 are no longer on the team. Two of them are no longer in the NFL. One  could possibly never start a game due to a knee injury. This type of poor drafting is why this team has been so bad for the entire decade.
