Cam Newton looked “terrible” during his Scouting Combine workout

What I see in Cam is what Tampa sees in Josh Freeman. Jimmy just scares the hell out me as a QB.

Jimmy is kinda short, extremely small hands, and he didn't have a clear mental picture of the routes his recievers were running. I think he can imporve on the mental side of the game, but it might take a long time. A vet is needed.

IMO we have to draft a QB this year. We can sign a vet QB to start for one year and put Cam in next year. But whose to say that the vet won't struggle.

No certainty in football. We're in a terrible postion, so we have to strongly consider any QB who could be our starter for now, and the future.

I don't think Cam will start for a year or two. I'd like to draft Green, and pick up a vet QB. If we're drafting Cam, keep in mind, we might not see him play as a starter for 2 or more years.

I'd be ok with that, I'd also be ok if he started so he could learn on the fly if need be. I would know going into it that he hasn't run a pro system before so I wouldn't be expecting above average play...

Would I want another QB if he sucked it up his rookie year? I don't think I would be so easy to write it off as I am as Clausen...His "pro-ready" rookie season really soured him for me(I'll admit I didn't like him at the start of the season anyway).

    • Honestly I haven no idea what I would have even done last night, Edgecomb was the most realistic option to improve our team
    • He doesn't have the athleticism to play in the NBA. He had the worst numbers of anyone who worked out in this draft. He's legitimately the least athletic player in this draft, which is saying something.   His ceiling is Kyle Korver, with his lack of athleticism he's more likely to be out of the league in 5-6 years like Jimmer Fredette.
    • Well, he was in probably every NBA franchise's top 6 or 7. Obviously it's nice to take the swing and it work out. But when a guy refuses to work out for your team, is probably the guy refusing to play with LaMelo, has sketchy handlers, etc.? You want...to take that swing? A desperate team does, sure. Which the Hornets are. But a smart team doesn't. Which is what they will hopefully become.  Kon isn't a superstar, but his floor is Kyle Korver. Is that what you want in the 4th pick? Not really, but he's your 4th guy on a good team and what I think Charles Lee wants in a player.  Trade down would've been nice, but for who? Tre Johnson would've been my guy, but he's gone if we trade with Brooklyn. If Washington wanted Ace, I doubt it would've taken much to come get him. Trade down and get Maluach (knowing you're trading Mark) would make sense and may have been the play, but I think Kon helps the team on the court and changing a culture. Not so sure about some of the guys in the 8-12 range.
