Biggest thing that I can pull is that on every big deal the hurricanes have been in this season they have refused to make a trade unless KK was being taken back by the other team.

I get it's disappointing, but this was definitely a seller's market and the only players traded away were players that would be depth pieces at best for us.

A lot of the top teams (Avs, Stars, Lightning, Wild post Hughes) really only traded for depth pieces. Just a terrible trade deadline all around and I'm glad we didn't cave and sell the farm for somebody like Tro (even though I like him and he fits our team well).

What's the cap next year? Have to figure in that number as well. 

Regardless, the Canes left $40M on the table. And you can't take it with you into next season.

I guess you have to ask yourself, which costs you more? A TDL deal in season, or a UFA deal after the season?

The cap will be 104m and the Canes are at 89.77m with 14.23m cap space not counting an extension for Nikishin. 

 

Only losses on the roster otherwise will be Jankowski, Deslauriers, Reilly and Andersen. 

 

Most likely why they were so hellbent on moving KK.

That's not including cap accrued due LTIR Nikishin is a RFA his deal isn't breaking the bank yet.

This team is gonna lose again 4-0 or 3-1 but it "will be in the second or third round" so clowns will celebrate it.
