We added a big man transfer from Florida Atlantic too. That one's a little head scratching. He only played 11mpg for FAU.

Had to have a back up big man. All of the backups that were at UNC entered the portal.

I get that but only 11mpg at FAU? That seems like a guy who shouldn't be getting off the bench at UNC.

Just a defense glue guy in the post. Played 11 minutes and averaged 5 and 3 with half a steal and block per game.

Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal.

If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.

Til something is done about portal hopping that's legally enforceable, this is what college sports will look like.

Levels the playing field a lot, now all you need is one donor willing to write a check to Kickstart a program.

Donor writes check

Make tourney

Take tourney money and invest it into program on getting players.

Rinse and repeat,

Have a bad year, check from donor to restart the process but as long as you make the tournament, any program can keep that cycle up now.

Yeah the only way current set up is fun is if every year a different tiny school builds a super team and makes a run. You just need 1 rich guy to say you know what would be funny, if I drop 30 million and my school has a shot at a national championship.

They won't ever do it but put some sort of tiered salary cap in place and sign them to 4 year deals. You can only transfer up or down tiers no lateral moves because mean ole coach at texas doesn't play me enough so I'm going to Tennessee. So a player at prairie view can transfer to texas and get paid more or a player from UNC can transfer to UNCG because he isn't getting playing time. If a guy is transferring "up" he can get a salary bump if the team has salary cap space. A guy transferring down has to stay at the same salary as he signed his 4 year deal for so the lower tier team would have to have the cap space to sign him. It would stop the money chasing for lateral moves but allow guys who improve massively at lower schools to make more money as juniors and seniors and hopefully keep more guys in one place because the contract is for 4 years.

Yeah, it's just dumb. Everything is year to year. I never understood how anyone could stay engaged as a Kentucky fan or duke fan as duke became a one and done factory like Calipari made Kentucky. The thing I liked at about UNC is that we primarily focused on recruits likely to play multiple years. We'd have pur occasional one and done but most of our pros still played multiple years. And the days of the Stackhouses, Wallace, Jamison, Carter, etc. playing multiple years is just over. And now you have your role players entering the portal every year to test the waters elsewhere. I don't blame them for looking out for themselves but just personally speaking I'll run out of interest quickly trying to get to know a whole new roster year over year.

Yeah being a college basketball fan is not near as fun as it use to be but at least Duke still gets 1-3 NBA players a year. I wish it would go back to how it was but know it's not. I'd hate to have nothing to look forward to but players like Vasser lol

The one and dones just don't do much for me. Let them go straight to the NBA. Get rid of that rule. I honestly think that rule was largely a knee-jerk reaction to that disastrous 2001 draft class that saw Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, and Eddy Curry go 1, 2, 4 straight of HS and all bust. Chandler ended up developing into a good defensive big man but it took years of development and he was never close to worth his draft position and he was by far the best of that highly touted HS "phenom" class.
