Newton: Shit just hit the Fan..

As for the Bush references, I believe it was a distraction for Reggie Bush when all that crap was going on. This is not something you want the face of your franchise having to deal with in a rebuilding effort. The QB nonetheless. Different if it's a DT...or a WR...or a RB...but the QB?

I actually read the whole thread and there are some people in here that just make me scratch my head.

There were specific people who said his whole behaviour was behind him and left in Florida. This, if proven, quite clearly shows it's as recent as this very season.

Considering there is a trail of red flags through his college career, how can you continue to excuse it?

Those that feel he is getting singled out, it's basically because there are so many things for people to point at. If it were JUST the driving tickets, or JUST the buying a stolen laptop and knowing it, or JUST trying to throw it away rather than face up for it, or JUST accepting pay, or JUST cheating on more than one occasion, or JUST disobeying his HC, or JUST referring to himself as an icon, or JUST admitting he wasn't prepared for the timing of the combine throws.

It's just one thing after another with him. There is no break in his questionable decision making. Yet SOMEHOW he is still be touted by the media as a possible #1 pick, whereas Mallett who has had other stories about him (less, but possibly more serious) and he has dropped off the planet with the media.

Face it, the media LOVE Newton. He is the one that keeps putting himself back into their news stories.

No, this is what happens when an athlete gets way over hyped in the media and keeps drawing more attention to himself. when you keep screaming 'Look at me!' eventually someone you don't want to, does.

How is he drawing attention to himself? Nobody is forcing the media follow him around like a bunch of puppies and to hang on his every word.

And BTW, it's beyond lame to look to Alabama fans to find dirt on an Auburn player. There is too much hatred there to make any room for the truth.

LMAO please stop, he is the ICON remember? Look reality is and has always been he knew all along daddy was shopping him and everything about it. No way he didn't know.

That said, if these tapes are real, then the kid is right there in the room on tape so he is 100% guilty like his daddy and the Heisman and National Championship go bye bye. And I doubt someone is going to risk a slander suit and pay the money to go to the trouble to have the tapes validated unless something is on there.

No he's not...

How about the fact that he is JUST under a microscope by the media, when other QBs at the combine aren't being investigated, or we don't know what kind of trouble they have been in, or we don't know if they've ever cheated on a test, or we don't know if they have kicked the neighbor's dog?

Here's the thing. Cam has been caught doing these things his whole college life. The others haven't.

If you think the other QBs aren't being put under a microscope then you are a fool. Look at the Mallett press conference. He got destroyed and the media refused to let him get away without addressing his drug allegations.

yeah I mean it's not like Mallett is being criticized for off the field issues and many experts think he could fall as far as the third round because of those issues

but hey, let's just ignore that and say Cam is the only one being criticized!

Maybe it'll come out when he has his first record deal in a rap or something. Or some cool Chuck Lorre-esque little tags with admissions in his designer clothing.

If someone has something on other QBs...bring it up. In fact...I think the cocaine thingy with Mallett was an "issue" brought up. I'm tired of the media coming to the "defense" of people because they're popular and have big market appeal. Do your damned job. Scouts, do your vetting. Let the truth decide.

Urry, stop. You have Cam nuthuggers that are either going to blame it on racism or anything else other than the fact this kid has done all of these things and collectively its MUCH more than just about any kid coming out in I don't know when.

This kid has more flags than the UN and that is all there is to it. Add to that he only had one season in D1 and his accuracy and footwork (quarterbacking not running) sucks and the kid shouldn't be a first round pick at all, but he will.

    • down 24 and we get our first possession in the 3rd and what happens?  run TE checkdown TE checkdown run run run RB checkdown TE checkdown run TE checkdown incomplete TE checkdown run now on the 4 yard line- Renfrow TD and POOF!  3rd quarter is over.  That's not a team even trying to get back into the game in reality.  That's just the Panthers taking freebies to make it look respectable in the end and guess what? Bryce gets to pad on 6/7 to his stat line in exchange for making the 3rd quarter disappear.  Not sure the hyper focus on the depth of the corners.  Cardinals were going to simply drop and allow the easy stuff underneath.  Which they did.  Did they play a random short yardage play a little different? Sure.  That doesn't' mean they weren't just letting the Panthers overall eat clock to bring the game to an end.  The Cards strategy was fine on D.  You just don't generally see teams implement it as early as they did but they were up pretty big.  It's the other units for the Cards that fugged the plan up.  again, it's 3 drives,  the ONE in the 3rd quarter and only drive of the entire quarter and the 2 to open the 4th.  Cardinals gave Bryce stuff in exchange for clock  (and the result was slow long drives eating the clock).  The rest of the game? They didn't.  The rest of the game outside of those 3 drives the Cards weren't in garbage allowance mode and Bryce stunk
    • But a serious question is, does he not see a guy come open because he misses seeing them on the field, which happens to every QB, or, is his vision blocked by the wide bodies in front of him instead of the helmets other QBs experience? For instance missing a wide open Chuba. Did he not see him or could he literally not see him? I tend to think the latter is a far bigger problem than we're being led to believe it is.
    • Agree he needs to clean up the costly turnovers. My opinion is that he's pretty good other than that. But that's kind of a big deal, so absolutely needs to minimize that stuff or he can't succeed. I don't beat up a QB because he occasionally doesn't see a guy come open. Every QB does that - occasionally.
