With #1 pick in NFL draft Carolina Panthers select

AJ Greene, WR, Georgia

Head coach Ron Rivera is still unsure of Steve Smith's future in Carolina.

Rivera "can't be certain" that Smith won't be traded this offseason. With Smith entering his age-32 season, it would certainly make sense for the Panthers to unload their long-time number one wideout, but the uncertain labor situation means there's a good chance he'll still be in Charlotte whenever play resumes.

You know it's coming...

Green definitely isn't a surefire #1

Who is?

Nobody is...

AJ Greene has the most talent. How many first round DTs actually achieved something in NFL? Not many. PP has talent but I dunno if he'd be a good corner... He reminds of Sean Taylor a lot. He's more of a safety in my opinion. We had a limp dick offense and above average defense. Getting Shockey won't fix everything. We need to be more balanced on offense.

I don't see what past picks have to do with with 2011. It's history. All that matters are the players themselves. There have been thousands of players who have passed through the NFL and none of them determine the future of the other guy.

Overall I think the team is pretty good we are just really, really bad at DT and QB. If we trade Smith I can see Green being the guy but we shouldn't let need mess determine things IMO.

If we gonna run 3-4 at times like Rivera said, we need a true NT. We can get a hell of a NT in 3rd round. We got 2 3rd round picks (one for peppers). Someone like Phil Taylor is perfect for revera system. Suh was a true #1 DT, Dareus comes no where near Suh talent.

I would love Green

Ha! Everyone wants Cam Newton... When did Hurney pick someone that huddle wanted by majority vote? Never. Hurney drafted Clausen in 2nd round of last year, he will not give up on him after one year. Neither Newton nor any other QB in the draft worth to be #1 overall.

I don't want any of the QB's in this draft. They all suck.

Blaine Gabbert = Joey Harrington

Cam Newton = Jamarcus Russell.

    • Nope Still missing it. Let's try this a different way... You have two quarterbacks from schools that ran the same kind of offense - maybe even two from the same school - on a given team (not necessarily the Panthers). One is designated the starter while the other is named the backup. Why?
    • yeah, pretty sure boss.....when things match and fit in the NFL.....the results then show it.  and when they don't, well, the results show that as well.  Bryce doesn't fit.   *but I get why late season and wants to argue with everyone Mr. Scot has also turned into a please don't talk to me about stats guy as well.  Given, the stats that reflect offensive productivity work against all your present arguments.
    • Yeeeah...stats and rankings have zero to do with a discussion of scheme and skill set match. Maybe look up definitions of style vs ability and see if that helps. At this point, you've basically had three different people explain to you where you're wrong, but rather than addressing any of those statements, you're just resorting to straight deflection.  You don't get it. Either that or you're acting like you don't get it so that you can avoid the discussion because it's not going well for you. (that wouldn't surprise me either) 😄 Sme result either way, I suppose.
