Sorthnarolina's Mock Draft: Trade down like woah edition....

I'm trying to make this one more in line with team philosophies. Build through the draft and no massive contracts for players outside the team.

Major needs:

QB

DT x 3

Needs:

CB

WR

OG

OT

Free Agents

Resign: C. Johnson, Kalil, Davis, Anderson, Rosario, J. Williams, Jon Beason(extension), D. Williams

Franchise: I know Kalil has been franchised but I think once the CBA is in place they lock him up long term. I have no idea who should be given the franchise tag. It's not economical and nobody has expressed a desire to leave.

Let Go: Moore, Marshall, King, Hayden, E. Johnson

Bring In:

DT Barry Coefield- This draft is very deep at DT so we shouldn't spend too much on them in FA. However, we really have nothing at the position.

Trades:

Carolina trades 1st for Cincy's 1st, and 2nd. Cincy gets Newton.

Carolina trades Cincy's 1st for Cowboy's 1st and 2nd. Boys get Peterson.

Carolina trades Cowboy's 1st for Tampa Bay's 1st and 2nd. Tampa gets whatever DE falls.

I'm not trading D-Will or Smitty. We don't need to get younger and they both affect team morale for the better. When the O-line sucked D-Will was the only RB who was effective. Smitty wants to win superbowls and destroy defenses as bad as anybody.

The Draft:

1st - Mike Pouncey OG - he's the best guard in the draft. Better than any tackles we could draft here. I doubt they want to get rid of Otah.

2nd(Cincy) - Phil Taylor - adds good size allows us to pursue more 3 techs and allows more

2nd - Corey Liuget DT - good UT

2nd(Bucs) - Ras-I Dowling CB - decent corner who well due to injuries. He's no PP but for the purpose of this mock it'll do.

3rd - Jarvis Jenkins DT - run stuff UT good for rotation.

3rd(comp) - Jordan Cameron TE - project TE from a blocking standpoint but he could contribute earlier in Chud's offense. Could be the next Antonio Gates.

4th - Mason Foster OLB - good for OLB depth.

5th - Alex Henery K/P/KOS - great kicker. John Kasay needs to be replaced. Doesn't have to be cut this year but we gotta be thinking about the future. It's like he's untouchable or something. New coaches might change that mindset.

6th - OLB Brian Rolle - we need better depth at OLB. The safety class in this year's draft is awful. I would go for secondary or O-line depth but it's just not there.

7th rounder went to packers in case you're wondering.

Discuss.

Heh, this is interesting. My biggest objection really is in the 2nd instead of going Taylor then Liuget, I'd go Austin then Taylor if he's available, Jerrell Powe if he's not. Also, I like Julius Thomas better than Jordan Cameron. 3rd is a bit high for Cameron regardless. With the 6th round pick I say just whatever BPA. We don't really need THAT much LB depth, we still have very good LB depth. After all the injuries last year and we still had a very solid LB unit. We already have Beason, Davis, Anderson, Conner, Norwood off the top of my head. (Yea I know Davis and Anderson aren't under contract, but I'm pretty sure they will be.) Jordan Senn will be kept for special teams if nothing else, and Nic Harris ain't bad either.
