Blaine Gabberts Mega thread

Don't take this the wrong way but I would be very surprised if Gabbert wowed you. :P

I suspect the Panthers will put more stock on their private workout with him anyway.

Interesting that it has come out that Proehl is running routes for him there.

I am open minded. Mallett was awesome at the combine. best pure passer in the draft. It is true that I haven't been as high on Gabbert but it is just from what I have seen not any bias toward Cam. I swear.

I also may have been a little put off with some of the stuff leading into this pro day and McShay coming on the air so early to declare it a success so I may have been overly critical.

ESPN did televise the first 18-20 throws of Gabbert’s routine. To the untrained eye, Gabbert’s ball appears to fly smoothly and powerfully off his hand. He spins a tight spiral, demonstrated impressive touch on downfield throws, and was able to power the ball to any spot on the field he wanted.

Rivera and Hurney not going means very little ultimately, I think. It's good that Gabbert had a nice pro day, but the private workout with the team could mean much more. Unlike in past years, I really think these workouts do indicate the team is taking a hard look at these guys.

    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
    • Honestly its why that Jalen Coker grab was a big deal.  I'd been warming up to the idea of a sadiq pick and was adamantly against a receiver...but this altered my train of thought.  I mean For instance, Cade Otton signed for 3 yr 30 mil contract...thats not dramatically different than the rookie payscale for #19 (4 year 20 mil with 5th year option), however you KNOW otton is decent...no clue if Sadiq will be anything.
