All this talk about bringing in a vet qb has me thinking...

Jake was the closest thing we have had to a franchise quarterback but the key word is was. I would like for him to finish his career as a Carolina Panther. But I was thinking more a one day signing and his retirement, not as a veteran backup. He doesn't have a future here anymore. It doesn't diminish all he meant to us though. One heck of a player who elevated everyone around him.

Well said.

I think it would be a great idea. If you wanted a true mentor who could teach a young guy to do things the right way there actually isn't a better person in the NFL to do that.

People want a vet at QB on the free agent market he may be the best one out there that would actually possibly come here.

Having said all that I would be less surprised if I woke up in the morning with my hair sewn to the carpet than if we actually brought Jake Delhomme back.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
