Latest WalterFootball.com Consensus Big Board

Here's another 2010 big board that has Jimmy Clausen as the #2 overall prospect...http://www.footballfanspot.com/nfldraftbigboard2010.htm

It wasn't just Walterfootball who thought highly of him. In fact, the only experts that had him lower, were the one's who thought he had an attitude problem...it had nothing to do with his skill set. They all thought he had an elite football IQ and would transition easily in to the pro game. They all put a lot of stock in the pro style offense that Charlie Weis ran at ND, but, in reality, that didn't mean squat in 2010 because he was still struggling to get the plays called on time even late in the season, not to mention reading the defenses and finding the open receivers.

You know that guy is not an expert and readily identifies himself as only a fan right?

 Give it up sweet cheeks, just because Cam is low doesn't mean you have to search the internet for one counterexample from some random fan's website to prove your point.

So they had Clausen as a 2nd round talent but best QB?

Or are you talking about mocks, which has nothing to do with this?

Walter didn't have him as 2nd round talent.

no matter the spin, they aren't experts who do the big boards being talked about. Just a bunch of random people guessing....means no more than educated people on the huddle guessing.

Yes it is, he compiled the data from 7 experts. Not "a bunch of random people guessing"

Did you even look at the link?

yes, I looked at the link. What you are doing is thinking guys with opinions are "experts". Ask legit paid guys who currently work for teams if they think Kiper is an expert.

This old argument again huh?

What about the other 6? Who have worked for teams and have turned down offers to work for teams?

This old argument again huh?

you are taking talking heads in the media acting like there opinion means more than it really does......

there is a reason those guys work for the likes of a ESPN and not the Pitt Steelers.

You could take those 7 guys and get there opinion vs 7 informed huddle posters.......about the same garbage is what you get.

which ones were successful NFL scouts?

which ones turned down jobs recently w/ NFL teams?

Mel Kiper ain't an expert. He is a guy on TV who gives his opinion. Tell me how the other 6 are experts?

How is Rob Rang an expert? You know anything about him? Getting gigs to write entertainment doesn't make you an actual expert.....even if your employer wants to label you that as you entertain people. They are football nerds....that is about it.

Look how upset you are.

They are all experts. Their jobs are to analyze draft prospects. Just because they do not do it for a team but rather do it on TV, doesn't mean their opinions aren't correct and they aren't experts.

Sure they are wrong once in a while, but they are 100% experts and you know it.

I agree they are all "experts". I just don't think anyone really cares what they say except fans. That is why they can be so wrong about where they think a guy is in relation to where he really is in the pecking order.

Also the TV guys do considerably less homework on each individual player than a NFL scouting department will do on their targets. TV guys have to evaluate every player eligible for the draft. NFL teams however locate their potential targets and zero in on those guys.

TV guys work very hard but ultimately have way more prospects to observe and study. And less resources and personnel to do it with.

Take my personal hero Cam Newton for example. The TV guys may watch 4-5 games of Newton and then go make their determinations from that. An NFL scouting department will watch all 14 games and even the Blinn JC games if they can gain access to it.

Also NFL personnel are privy to information that media people do not have access to like physicals, team interviews, etc.

So TV guys are good and I consider them "experts" but also don't put much stock into what they say or their mocks. I just use them for information, perhaps some insight of what teams "may" be thinking about certain prospects, and most importantly fun and interest leading up to the draft.

Not upset. I just asked simple questions for you to answer. But if you want to try to take attention away from the real subject continue with silly remarks like that....

What is there background that makes them qualified to be actual "experts"?

I don't know it.....so again, take Rob Rang for example and explain what about his background makes him an expert? They are just football nerds....there are plenty on this site as well. I could give you my opinions and I would hit and miss on stuff.....They are entertainers. Not much more. They entertain sports nerds. If they were experts there opinions would be reach beyond the fanbases and there employers would change.

It's not only their background but how much time they spend doing this. You can argue and bitch and whine all you want all day but the fact remains that they are experts in their field, which is analyzing college players entering the NFL draft.

They might not be as good as scouts who only do research on 15-20 players but they are pretty damn good considering all the circumstances.

If you quit whatever it is you do now, got the connections that they have, got the credentials they have, had the access they have, and more often than not put out good reports on players full time, you could work your way up to expert status.

Maybe the title should read: "Latest WalterFootball.com Consensus Big Board from the Consensus Experts" just so people like you don't get offended

That way your little panties won't be in a bunch

-well, you seem to simply ignore the fact they have no background.

- there field is not being an expert at evaluating NFL talent. There field is to entertain consumers of the sport. Again, how many have been employed by a team....heck, how many actually played anything above high school level sports.

my point is there opinions just don't mean as much as you want them to mean. they are opinions of guys that haven't played and haven't even worked in the field. They are sports writers and talking heads.

Kiper being high on Clausen and low on Cam just doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

If I was an expert of space and science (with no actual experience in the field I spoke on) and the only people who listened to me were message board people while NASA laughed.......I probably ain't an expert.
